(😏) Xolo Maridueña

Start from the beginning

A little boy about your age came running over.

"Hi auntie! whatcha need?" He swayed side to side.

"Show your new classmate to your mother's class?"

You looked at the boy up and down. He seem nice enough but he was still a boy.

You were at the age where you think boys are gross and have cooties.

But something deep down told you ya'll would be cool.

You hug your mom goodbye and follow the little boy.

He grabbed your hand and jogged down the hall

"C'mon, you'll like my mommy's class she teaches the fun subjects!"

You follow and ask "English and Science?"

"YEAH! I LIKE YOU ALREADY YOU'RE SMART LIKE ME!" He slowed his running and cheered.

"You're pretty cool for a boy, you're not that icky like the other boys i met"

"Yeah you're not icky like other girls I met either."  He replies

"Friends forever?"

"Forever and ever"

By the time you two reached the door your were hugging.

His mom walked out smiling

"Hun, who's this Xo?"

"Oh.. dang I don't even know your name!" He face palmed.

"Yn!"

"Nice to meet you Yn, I'm Mrs. Maridueña or Ms. M. What you call me is your choice" You look to your teacher.

"nice to meet you Mrs. Maridueña"

"This is my son Xolo"

"Xo-lo" You pronounce his name so you remember how to say it

"You two go inside today we're learning cursive."

You two ran inside, hand in hand, and sat beside each other.

Ever since then, you've been inseparable.

•Flash Back Over•

From that day forward, every first day when you picked seats, you sat next to each other, holding hands the entire class.

It was like a tradition, a ritual. A superstition you developed.

If we came into the new year together, that school year would always be memorable.

Not holding hands would offset the balance.

"We really had our own superstition."

"Remember how many people thought we dated or actually go out with one another."

"EVERY YEAR" you laughed aloud.

"That year we actually pretended to, though?"

Xolo grinned "Yeah. That was a good year."

"It really was. You were a pretty good 'boyfriend' "

"Ever wish we were for real?" He asked

"I look at our friendship as the real thing. Minus the lovey dovey shit."

"I really like you Yn" Xolo stared at you.

Ripping the bandage off i see.. better late than never.

"Finally. Damn, I was wondering when you'd fess up"

His jaw dropped.

"You knew?!" He looked shocked.

"Duh goofy. Well, I was hoping you did. I realized I liked you when we were in 6th grade."

The two of you laughed as he put you into a gentle headlock messing up your hair.

"You're annoying!  You know that?!"

You continued your fit of giggles.

"YOU LOVE ME ANYWAYS"

He leaned down and kissed your head.

"You right. I do, and you love me so we're even"

He allowed you to sit back up, giving you the chance to lay on his shoulder.

You extended your head up and kissed his jawline.

"You right. I do"

"Malta is gonna be awesome." You say

"First trip as a couple."

"Xolo, Yn. Come on we're about to light the fireworks."

Your moms called you both.

You two stand and walk out, Xolo's hand wrapped around you.

The block counts down as people get ready to light the explosives lined down the block.

You grabbed Xolo and planted a kiss on his lips.

"CONGRATULATIONS NEWSOME HIGH GRADS!" the block yells.

The two of you pull apart. Xolo in slight surprise as you two put your foreheads together.

You back away, turning around to lean into his chest as he snakes his hands around your waist.

He rests his chin, in the crook of your neck.

"Here's To Us" He whispers

You looked at him

"To us."
