The only one! - Newt

Chapter twenty-eight

Six full months have past, I've spend a lot of time with Newt and today we're getting Minho back. We have a plan around the train they get transported in. I'm hiding together with Harriet. We get out and I run into the huge spaceship. A soldier wants to escape but I point a gun to his head. "Not so quick." I say smiling. We get him out and everyone gets in.

We fly up and at that point my stomach start aching. "What's wrong Hunter?" Harriet asks worried. She became my best friend in those six months.

"Period is on his way." I reply and she simply nods. We get above the train and let the clip down where the boys are. They connect it with the container and we fly away to our basis. I feel sick all of a sudden and when we arrive I immediately run to the toilets.

I start vomiting and hear a knock on the door. "Hun, are you alright?" I hear Harriet's voice calling. I get up and open the door. She looks at me worried.

"Yeah, I don't know, maybe just the flu." I reply. She nods and we get back to the others. I embrace Newt but he seems odd. "What is it handsome?" I ask.

"Minho wasn't in there, it was all for nothing." He says softly resting his forehead against mine.

"Nothing? Newt we saved almost seventy kids, that's amazing and we'll get Minho." I reply. He smiles and kisses me. We get inside where Thomas is explaining his story.

"Look Thomas, we can't risk ourselves and the kids out there just for one man!" Vince replies madly.

Thomas storms out disappointed. I look at Newt and he looks at me. We both get outside and see patrols of WCKD flying around. We cut off the electricity and everyone hides.

That night I get a backpack and run behind Thomas, hiding. I see him standing in front of a car with Newt and Frypan. "We will always be there, and how more how better." Newt says.

I walk up to them and his expression on his face changes. "Let me join then." I say holding one strip of the backpack in my hand.

"No! No Hunter that's too dangerous." Newt says placing his hands on both my shoulders.

"Yeah? You're going, you think I don't mind you being in danger? I am going!" I say in protest.

"Too bad you're too late!" He says before jumping into the car and driving away. I look at the car racing away and I become really mad.

I wake up both Brenda and Jorge and we get behind them. It gets day quickly and we drive over the street. I start having those stomach aching again and I ask Jorge to stop. I start vomiting on the side of the road. "You sure you didn't eat something wrong?" Brenda asks worried, I shake my head.

We drive further and she just looks at me. "When was the last time you got your period?" He asks.

"Almost a month and a half ago..." I reply. "I'm late this month." I add.

"No you know what you are, pregnant. Did you and Newt had sexually contact over the past few months?" Brenda asks.

"Maybe once or twice, or seven..." I reply looking down.

"You know there are things called condoms..." I interrupt her before finishing her sentence.

"We used them, all the seven or eight times, sorry I lost count after the sixth time." I reply.

"You know girls, condoms are only like 97 percent affective." Jorge says which makes both Brenda and I shocked.

"Oh no! What if I'm pregnant?!" I start panicking and Brenda calms me down.

We drive inside a tunnel full of cranks and get to the boys. "In!" Brenda screams while shooting some cranks. When the boys sit inside we drive away.

"You know, next time you dump me like that, I will have no problem killing you!" I scream when we drive outside of the tunnel.

"I'm so sorry Hunter, I just don't want you to get hurt." He says guilty.

"Yeah I get that, first you didn't want me to be with you guys in the attack on the train but do something safer, then you didn't want me to go with you which, just saying I saved you out there and what's next Newt? All the times you forbid me to do those things it's you who does them. You think I'm not concerned? Or worried or scared?! Of course I am!" I say seriously.

"I know, sorry." He says. I hug him shortly and pull back again. We stop after a few miles looking at the city and the wall surrounding it. "Three years we've been spending behind walls trying to break out, and now we're trying to break back in." Newt says.

"I know it's hilarious." Frypan replies sarcastically.

"Tell him, he gotta know!" Brenda whispers to me.

"I'm not even sure if it even is the case." I reply.

Everyone gets back in the car and we drive further. The whole time Brenda and I are whispering arguing about if I should tell him or not. It's good they don't ask.
