•Chapter 3: Tests•of•tests•

"You don't know? He's been following us pretty closely ever since we left the port." Gon commented

"Wha-Really?"

"Yeah, sorry, kid. Didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I couldn't help but hear you guys talking." He shrugged.

"What will you do?" The old lady interrupted

"He seem pretty eager to me. Should we let him go first, guys? See what kind of question we can expect from them?" Leorio asked

"Sure. I'm okay with that." Gon spoke

"No objections here." Kurapika added. I shrug and nod

The man walked infront. "Let's get to it, then."

"Now, here is your question. A group of evil villains have kidnapped your mother and your true love and you can only save one of them. Choose one for your mother or two for your true love." She got a glare on "Which do you save and which one of them dies?"

My eyes widened. "What?..." What kind of question is that? I mean, I don't have a mother but my father is still around but, I don't even have a true love yet...

"-Hey what kind of quiz is this?" Leorio seemed to get mad..

The guy snickered and hit a button. "The answer's number one." He smiled

"Oh? And what's your reason?" The old lady asked

"It's your mom! It's not like you can replace your mom. But a lover, you can always find another one." He explained. True, It's not like I have a mom to begin with..

"What?"

"You may pass." She pointed at the exit

"-Seriously?"

The guy looked back at us "Looks like the trick is telling the old lady whatever she wants to hear. Adios!" He walked away

"Hang on! What kind of crap is that? There's no way that was the right answer!" Leorio protested. I sigh, it's true you can't replace your mother. She was the one to took care of you for many years. At least I think that's what a mother would do.

"We're just supposed to say what we think she want to hear? What's up with that?" He shouted.

"-Say something."

I sigh. He doesn't get it, does he?

"Ugh, Okay. I've had just about enough of this. I'm gonna find my own way!"

"It's too late for that." The elder spoke. Too late? "What do you mean?" I ask

"Refuse to take the quiz if you wish. But know you'll be disqualified." She said

"Knew it." I comment. Leorio growled

"That's nuts! Different people would as we that in different ways! There's no right answer for that question and never has been."He shouted

"Right answer?" I adjust my glasses and kicked a pebble.  "No right answer?" Kurapika mumbled

"-Leorio!"

"-That's enough!"

"I don't want to hear another word out of you. Say anything but your answer and you're disqualified."

I sigh. I-I guess I still don't understand...Oh god will I be disqualified? What if I get it wrong? What if I just came all this way for nothing? What if-

"Now for the question."

"You learn both your son and daughter have been kidnapped. You will only be able to rescue one of them. Choose one for your son, and two for your daughter. Which of these two will you rescue?"

I gasp. "I-I can't choose one of them" I mumble. I look at Leorio and he looks like he's gonna break.

"Five...Four..."

Leorio walked to the side. "Leorio?" He grabbed a floorboard "Go ahead, count down you old hag" He growled.

"oh shi-"

Okay. He has to answer, but, it's choose one! There's no way a parent would ever just choose one!

"...Three...two...one!"

Wait. If we don't push the button then. Then that would mean we got it right! We don't answer question! I look back and Leorio is still swinging the floorboard

She mimicked a buzzer "Time is up!"

Leorio yelled, jumping up preparing his swing. H-He's aiming for the elder!

"LEORIO NO"

I throw my bag of and jump in-front stopping him with my arm. "TCH-!"  My arm begins to throb

"Y-Y/n!" Kurapika shouted

"H-." He hesitated, shocked and confused but resorted back to rage.

"Out of the way, Y/n! This old hag need to be taught a lesson and I'm gonna make sure she gets it!" He shouted in my face. I throw the board off my arm

"Calm down Leorio!" I shout. I feel tears forming. No, not now...

"How the hell fo you expect me to calm down!" He yelled back. He STILL doesn't get it!

"W-We got it right!" I yell. "YOU DUMB IDIOT YOU REALLY WANT TO RUIN THAT?" I shout. He steps back "We did?"

"We already got it. The correct response" I sigh. "Silence. That was the answer"

"What do you mean silence?" He asked

My arm begins to throb even more. I grab it and rub "Tch- Just that. You said it yourself."

"Huh?"

"Y-You were right. T-there was no correct answer to our question" I slightly smile. But quickly it disappeared. The intense pain came

"Ow! FU-" I drop to the ground holding my arm. "I TOTALLY DIDN'T THINK THAT THROUGH" Tears start going down my face.

"OH! WHA- I AM SO SORRY Y/N- WHY DID YOU EVEN DO THAT?! DAMN IT" Leorio shouted running at me. He grabbed my arm and sighed with relief.

"OW- you're HURTING ME" I shout

"It's not broken. Thankfully. BUT WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!" He shouted

"YOU WERE THE ONE WHO WAS ABOUT TO HIT THE ELDER, YOU KUMSHIIWAA. IDIOT YOU NEVER DO ANYTHING DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS THEM" I shout. I quickly shut up and clench my teeth. I want this pain gone.

"H-here." He gave 3 pills. He put them in my mouth one by one. "W-What is this?" I ask

"Pain killers"

"They will definitely help with the pain. But they are strong so you'll definitely feel drowsy" He sighed. His eyes softened.

"I-I'm so sorry" He had tears forming. He tried his best to hide them but it was pretty obvious. I sigh and smile

"I-It's alright..."

After that. I passed out

End of chapter 3
This is definitely a long chapter. But anyways, That word "Kumshiiwaa" It's my native language. I'm from Canada, BC. I am also native and learning my language which the elders have taught me. I may not remember much but have a few words i remember.
