I adjust my glasses, slowly falling in and out of sleep. I sigh. My 3rd year trying for the Hunter exam, I better not fail this time. I started attempting the exam at 15...
The smell of fresh fish in the air. Ahh how i'll miss it...That is, me coming back again, failing.
The boat has already boarding passengers, I walk on the small bridge to the boat transporting me to the exam. Everyone was at the dock waving at a young boy.
"—Good luck Gon!" "—Stay safe!" "—All the best!"
They all cheered on the boy, I sigh and smile. If only I had people like that care for me...In fact, this will be the marked day of my mother's accident. I don't really like talking about it, even if I don't remember what happened.
"Thanks everybody! I'll be the next best hunter in the world!" The boy cheered. I smile, I was just like him...3 years ago...
I sat on the ledge of the boat. I start to draw the island slowly fading away. A group of men chuckled at the boy
"What a naive little boy."
"Every year, millions of incredible men take part in the Hunter Exam. But only a handful make it in the end. Don't be so quick to make judgements boy"
I clear my throat, pretty loud too. I point to my face with a bored look at the men, they smile
"Huh! Even the girl thinks she can beat the exam! Good luck little one" He laughed. I roll my eyes
"Well excuse me, I'm 18. I've seen you try out for the exam for 5 years Toki...More than that boy over there, even perhaps me!" I smirk. Toki groaned and rolled his eyes
I continue to draw in the sketch book. I twitch slightly and look out at sea...
"A storm..."I mumble..Awe man! It's always something to start off the exam...
•Small time skip•
•CRASH! BOOM! CLAP!•
Many people were flying across the room due to the ocean. Even I couldn't hold my balance, I fall onto somebody making a softer landing
"D-Goof!" I heard a groan from behind. I quickly get off and bow. My glasses fall off, I don't bother grabbing them now
"I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!" I shut my eyes, and bow continuously. I heard a chuckle and looked up. A Male, with glasses and a suit smiled. He had a checkered briefcase
"It's alright! You had no control over the fall!" He scratched the back of his head. He picked up my glasses and gave them back to me
"O-oh! But again, I'm sorry!" I grab them from his hand
I get up and leave the room. I stop in the middle of the hall way
"GOD DAMN IT! GREAT JOB Y/N! YOU'VE MADE AN EMBARRASSMENT OF YOUR SELF ONCE AGAIN" I fall down and hit the floorboards
I walk into the captains office (?)
"I've been through bigger waves than that!" He exhaled with a slight laughter. I walk in with 3 men hanging over their stomach
"Hey! Take over the wheel!" He ordered someone. I walk up to him
"So, Uh. Everything is fine? I mean with the storm..have we passed it?" I questioned
The old man smiled and nodded. He walked out of the room and I decide to join him
"Gosh, Nobody on this ship can get themselves together." He spoke. We walked down a hallway before he opened a door
We both stick our heads in and sea a pile of men unconscious or sick. I smirk, now what was that about 'Millions of men' Toki?
"The whole crew is tattered. A bunch of wimps. How do they expect to take part in the Hunters Exam? What a joke" He shook his head. I smiled, I walked up to a young boy I opened up my backpack taking out a small water bottle, opening and offering the boy.
The boy with green hair came up to the same guy giving some herbs.
"Here! Chew it and you'll feel better." He smiled
"Here! Some water!" I smile also.
I got up and looked around. So far Me, Green boy, a boy with blonde hair with a cape? and the same guy I fell on earlier.
We all gathered in the office. The 3 males in a line as I just stand by the wall
"All right, let's hear your names first." The captain asked.
"My names Gon!" The boy cheered in the middle. On the left was the blonde
"I'm Kurapika."
On the right was the guy from earlier
"The names Leorio." He sighed. He doesn't look like he doesn't want to talk to anyone...
"And I'm Y/n Hoshi" I wave. Leorio looked back with a raised eyebrow, which I pretend not to notice
"And why do you 4 want to be Hunters?"
"Hey! You're not an examiner. Why are you asking us?" Leorio pointed
"Just answer me!"The captain groaned
"It's because my dad is a hunter. I really want to find out what kind of job being a Hunter is. That fascinated my dad. That's why I left Whale Island!" Gon smiled.
"Hey kid! Stop being such a busybody." Leorio spoke up. Technically we don't but he isn't an examiner...He's only to transport us
"there's nothing wrong with telling him our reasons. It's not a secret!" Gon said.
"Look, Get with the program. It's us versus him. And I'm not telling him why I'm here." Leorio spoke with a annoyed tone. He pressed against Gon's head
"I'm afraid I agree with Leorio." Kurapika spoke. Gosh he has such a soft voice it's barely audible
"That's Mr.Leorio to you, You brat. Show a little respect for your elders!" He shouted
I scoff. Please, As if we would give him respect with him having that attitude.
"But why not dodge the question by simply offering the man a plausible lie?" Kurapika question. I slightly nod
"Hey! Are you even listening to me?" Leorio yelled. He acts like a child yet he asks for respect? Huh! I cant with this...
"However, it is quite shameful to rely upon deceit. As for me, I cannot reveal my reasons here. I have my share of secrets. Deep secrets, which i do not intend to expose at this time. That is why I will not answer your question." He explained.
"Couldn't you just say your not comfortable sharing it?" I mumble.
"Hey, I was talking to you, punk." Leorio once again shouted.
"So, both of you flat out refuse to answer my question." The captain spoke
"Well, I've always wanted to help out people the best I can! I, also am just doing it for the money" I scratch the back of my head.
