I sat in the DADA classroom beside Pansy. It was our first class of the day, so most of us were just messing around as we waited for Professor Umbridge to come in. One of the Patil twins made a paper airplane that turned into a bird that flew around the classroom. The bird flew over to our table and I blew on it, while Pansy tried to swat it away.

"It could've ruined my hair." She whined.

"Oh, go on, Seamus! Go on, get it!" Someone said. Seamus quickly hit the bird, making a few boys cheer.

"It's paper, Pansy." I reminded her. Crabbe stood up and pulled a slingshot literally out of his ass to hit the bird with. I mean, come on. Why does he have a slingshot? He's too stupid to conjure something like that. The bird was suddenly set on fire and it landed back in front of the Patil twins.

"Good morning, children." Umbridge announced her arrival. We all turned around to see her lower her wand.

"This is going to be fun." I said sarcastically.

"Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations. O-W-Ls. More commonly known as O.W.L.s!" Professor Umbridge's voice was getting higher and higher.

"Her voice is so annoying." I copied her tone quietly to Pansy.

"Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so and the consequences may be severe." Professor Umbridge warned before flicking her wand, making stacks of books levitate through the desks. The book was dropped in front of me and I looked at it with a raised eyebrow.

"Is she serious?" I asked Pansy.

"Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you'll be pleased to know, from now on, you will be following a carefully structured, Ministry-approved course of defensive magic. Yes?" Umbridge pointed behind me at Hermione.

"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells." Hermione spoke.

"Using spells? Well, I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom." Umbridge laughed.

"We're not gonna use magic?" Ron asked.

"You'll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way." Professor Umbridge corrected.

"What use is that? If we're attacked, it won't be risk-free." Harry said.

"Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class." Umbridge stated. "It is the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations! Which, after all, is what school is all about."

"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?" Harry called.

"There is nothing out there, dear! Who do you imagine wants to attack children, like yourself?" Professor Umbridge rhetorically asked.

"You shouldn't have said that..." I trailed off.

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe Lord Voldemort!" He pretended to think. I, once again, flinched at the name along with all of the Slytherins in the room.

"Now, let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This. Is. A. Lie!" She quietly spoke.

"It's not a lie! I saw him, I fought him!" Harry exclaimed.

"Detention, Mr. Potter!" Umbridge shouted.

"So according to you, Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?" Harry continued speaking while I facepalmed.

"Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident." Umbridge tried.

"It was murder, Voldemort killed him, you must know this!" Harry shouted.
