Softly, the salty breeze sweeps through my hair, ruffling my golden dog ears in the process. My nose picks up the usual scents that come with water travel: mainly fish, sweat, and salt.
Scrunching my face in disdain, I look away from the endless ocean instead focusing on my shipmates.
How I ended up on a ship full of himbos, I'll never know. Bulging muscles, poor hygiene, and holier-than-thou vibes are what most of the crowd consists of.
But, the man sitting next to me is different. Sure, he seems proud, but he seems disciplined as well. Plus, he doesn't stink like the rest of them.
"I'm Y/n," I introduce out of the blue, giving him a warm smile.
His eyes meet mine briefly, "Hanzo."

I observe his shiny head and bandaged forearms, taking note of his bright red bandana. Another thing I notice is just how buff he is.
"It's nice to meet you, Hanzo! If you don't mind my asking, where are you travelling to?"
"I'm going to take the 287th Hunter Exam," he says without much thought.
I raise an eyebrow in confusion, "Hunter Exam? What's that?"
"You don't know what the Hunter Exam is?" He looks at me incredulously.
I nod.
He turns to fully face me, diving into an in-depth explanation of Hunters and the Exam.
I pay close attention, asking questions once he finishes.
"So, anyone can participate?" I ask, excitement bubbling in me, making my fluffy tail twitch.
"Yes. But it takes years of training to even find the examination area. Most people don't even make it to the First Phase."
I hum, rolling my eyes heavenwards to watch the birds circling in the sky.
Hunter, hmm? That would certainly give me something to do...
"Thanks for the info, Hanzo!" I snap back to reality, grinning as I shake his hand.
"Oh, no problem, Y/n."
He watches me as I leave his side, a new goal swimming around my mind.
