The One Where Dream Figures It Out

Dream sat down with his tray at the lunch table. Skeppy, Sapnap, Ant and Velvet were at the table as well, all of them eating nearly the same lunch. Today's lunch was a pile of noodles and spaghetti sauce with big clumps of meat over it, accompanied by a slab of garlic bread and corn. They all had white milk cartons as well.

"Hey," Sapnap greeted him, scooting over on the bench to make room.

"Hey," Dream replied. He nervously glanced at the clock. Five minutes.

Skeppy slapped his shoulder lightly. "You'll be fine, don't worry about it."

Dream gave a slight smile and looked to the older couplez who nodded.

"I'm just so nervous, hah. I don't know if they're gonna be a boy or a girl... and if I cough up the other flowers- what were they again?"

Skeppy and Velvet shrugged, and Sapnap was busy chugging his milk.

"Well, that narrows it down even less! Do you know how many other genders there are-? Genderfluid, nonbinary, genderqueer, demiboy, demigirl, deminonbinary, bigender, trigender, agender-"

"Okay, okay, we get it," Sapnap panted, out of breath from speedrunning his meal.

"Sorry, I'm just- I didn't even really think about love before, I guess. It's scary."

"Yeah, it was like that for me, too," Velvet admitted. "I was scared, but as soon as I figured out who it was, I..." He looked at his boyfriend. "I felt a lot better."

"Thanks," Dream smiled. "I really don't know what I would do wi-"

Dream suddenly started coughing. Everyone jumped a little, and Sapnap, who thought he was choking, started attempting the heimlick, failing miserably.

"Dude, stop! It's the flowers you idiot!" Skeppy swatted Sapnap away, then looked at Velvet and Ant for what to do.

"Here- for me, hitting my back helped- try that!" Velvet replied, standing up.

Sapnap started aggressively smacking Dream's back.

"What the hell- not that hard!!" Skeppy yelled. At this point the whole cafeteria was staring at them.

"Uh- for me, rubbing my back helped the flowers to come up-" Ant piped in, and Skeppy immediately shoved Sapnap to the side and did as Ant said.

Dream was still coughing, and a large blue rose came up and fluttered onto his plate. It was flaked with blood, but the color blue stood out brightly.

Skeppy and Sapnap stopped and stared. The whole cafeteria was silent.

Sapnap pumped his hands in the air. "LET'S GO!!"

Dream stared at the rose. "So he's a boy..."

"Dude, that's awesome! Blue and a boy, huh? Nice." Skeppy lightly patted Dream's shoulder.

"I think my back's gonna be bruised... Thanks, Sapnap."

"Heh, sorry. But did it help?"

"Not in the slightest."

"Oh."

The cafeteria was back at its normal volume. One of the supervisors came from the hallway. "Clay Taken, right?"

Dream nodded at her. She smiled back. "Come with me, please. And bring the flower as well."

"Hey- can we go?" Sapnap took a step towards the two, who had already started towards the cafeteria doors.
