What's in a Name?

There was a brief flurry of chat on the notice board at Wattpad HQ last night when one of my colleagues posted a link to the ever entertaining Urban Dictionary. Various folk typed in names of colleagues and were entertained by the humourous, odd or overly cheesy descriptions obviously edited in by people who had the same name.

I'd always been told by my mum (she's right, obviously, mums are always right) that Gavin meant "Hawk of the month of May", or "May Hawk" if you're being less prosey. It's also a Scottish name.

But the definition I got back was this =]

gavin

What the ---- is with all these utterly retarded definitions? Gavin is a name. It means battle hawk. You people are complete and utter idiots.

It's a NAME, not a ----ing internet-word to be spewed at random ten ----ing thousand times a day by someone who doesn't even know the meaning of it.

If you have a few minutes spare today, it's worth a laugh to do. The rest of the company have of course got their definitions back, but I rather like that fact that mine was obviously edited by someone called Gavin, possibly someone living up to the stereotype of dour Scot, who'd obviously had a bad day. He made mine though =]
