After returning back to Hong Kong to continue his education, Syaoran gradually loses his magical abilities.
When in college, he receives a mysterious phone call from a girl, who warns him of an upcoming threat in Sakura's life. She suggests she can help him protect the Clow Cards from people who are looking for them.
He tries stealing them from Sakura, as directed, but is unsuccessful in his attempt and causes a rift between the two, with them eventually parting ways.
In the meantime, Sakura asks Yue to lock the cards up in a void to keep them safe, as she fears they'll be stolen again.
A few years later, Syaoran returns back to Tomoeda demanding the cards back, following his mother's orders. Both of them settle their differences eventually and confess their lingering love for each other.
To save Yukito and Touya's wedding, Sakura tries to stop a massive Typhoon which would hit the coasts of Japan. As a consequence, the mysterious figure of a girl senses the powers of the cards again.
