"Are you sure this is safe?" Syaoran stood next to Sakura as she shuffled through the cards.

"This is not the first time I'm seeing memories of the departed." Sakura answered.

She took out the card she wanted to use and held it before her. She whispered some twisted words that Eriol had taught her and immediately a magic circle appeared. Syaoran covered his eyes as the light shone brightly around her. Winds blew strongly and dead branches swayed with the currents.

As the spell waned in power, she closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder, falling asleep in a trance. Eriol had warned this would happen when dealing with the dead and had already informed Syaoran to wake her up in case her body drifted to the far shore which could be understood if her temperature dropped suddenly.

When the glimmering dust settled, she saw her mother as a child, with her innocent frills and bows. She must have been almost 13 years old then with curly hair cut short at the neck.

Another child ran into the frame, this time a younger girl with her tiny fingers, ravenous hair and purple eyes. It was Ayumi. They both giggled like little birds in spring and glided across fields together.
