Chapter 19
"Hello again, you two." It was Thomas' friend Illac. Nasa gallery ito ni Mia at kasunod nito si Tom at ang iba pa niyang mga kaibigan.
"Hi, Illac. Nice seeing you here. It's been awhile." Sagot ni Mia rito.
"Awhile, like ten years ago or 'yung football game?" Illac said, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know, but I don't remember seeing you before the football game. Though it's really nice seeing you again. I hope you're here as a buyer." Sabi ni Mia at nahilot ni Illac ang sintido.
"Sumabit lang talaga ako but fine."
"I invited him, I hope you don't mind." Si Tom at pareho silang umiling ni Mia.
"Oh, no. Not at all, as long as he will buy at least two art pieces."
He cringed. They all did because they knew the prices of the new artworks aren't that affordable. Mia's featured artist for this month is quite famous.
"Damn." Illac said, looking at him as if asking for his help. He shrugged because he himself has to buy, and he can't help him. He made this ridiculous promise to buy something whenever his Mia has a new artist featured. A promise that will mayhap bankrupt him in the future.
Mia excuse herself and attend to other prospective buyers and left them at the bar.
"Your girl is shrewd." Sabi sa kanya ni Tom at naiiling na lamang ito.
"I should probably distance myself to her. Baka mamaya ay pabilhin na rin niya ako ng mga naka display rito kada makita niya ako." Si Devlin.
"Hindi malabong mangyari 'yan." Sagot niya, also shaking his head.
"I agree, I forgot how Mia can be scary sometimes." Illac supplied.
"Really? She's been nothing but sweet and loving to me." He said, and the men just snickered at his comment. He's kidding of course, he knows that already. His Mia is someone you shouldn't cross in the negative light. She can be persuasive, sweet, innocent, lovingly passionate but progressive, and punitive, too.
"Wesley ..." It's Mia, bumalik ito sa kanila sa bar at humawak sa braso niya. Pansin niya ang diin ng paghawak nito sa kanya.
"Yes, babe?" He answered, still smiling to her.
"Why is your ex -girlfriend here, and with Senator Marchesi?" She quietly asked him pero gaya ng daliri nito sa braso niya ay may diin din ang bawat salita nito.
"What?" He asked again, not sure if he's hearing her right.
"Your ex is here, and she's with Senator Marchesi." She answered at isinenyas ang likuran. Nang tumunghay siya ay nakita nga niya ang ex niyang si Audrey.
"Babe, that's her father."
"Her father is Senator Marchesi?" Mia asked again, wide eyed.
"Yes."
"Your ex is a Senator's daughter? Damn. Ipakilala mo naman ako kay Senator, sabihin mo baka pwedeng suportahan niya ako dahil gusto kong magpulitika." Pakisali ni Illac sa kanila, si Tom at Devlin naman ay parehong nakangisi. The trio is obviously teasing him.
"I didn't know that, maybe you should offer our firm's services to Senator Marchesi." Sagot naman ni Tom but he is wriggling his eyebrows.
"Mahilig talaga sa mga anak ng prominenteng pamilya iyang si Wesley." Devlin teased.
