Viren Khanna

I don't know how these three months passed. Well, we were super busy in purchasing wedding outfits for everyone. My house was bustling with relatives. Why not? Because the guy who didn't even think about dating is getting married. So it's a shock for everyone.

While our family was busy with wedding decors, Pari and I went on numerous dates. We left all the decors' duty to our family. But of course, in the end, they'll ask our opinion. Pari and I decided to design each other's wedding outfit. When we said the same to everyone they teased a hell lot of us, but we cared less.

So now I was checking myself in front of my room's mirror. Because today is my engagement day. From today our pre-wedding rituals will start. Both our families were going crazy like they wanted to test our love for each other, so they asked us not to tell each other the color of our dress.

We both knew we'll win, yet Sharav  intervened and told them to keep that challenge for the Mehendi ritual and not for others. Sulking everyone agreed. I couldn't help but think about how my life has taken a total change. Never thought of getting into a relationship, but here I was willing to get married to the girl. The girl who won my heart from childhood.

My thoughts were broken, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked at dadu and Devesh Uncle through the mirror. There were tears in their old yet matured eyes. I immediately turned around.

"What happened dadu?", I asked him. Wiping his tears off, he cupped my face and kissed my forehead. "You look just like your dad. I wish they were here to witness this". Devesh uncle nodded his head.

I gulped the lump that formed in my throat. How badly even I wished them to be here. He then made me wear a chain.

I looked at him in a questioning manner. "It's your dad's chain. He wore this during his engagement. He was not a big fan of men's jewelry. But we had to force him to wear that day. Since it's your engagement today, you're gonna wear this. From now on you'll wear this every day", he said to me with his voice cracking. I nodded my head with tears threatening to fall.

Then Sharav knocked my room's door and entered, whilst we wiped our tears. Looks like he cried. After all his sister was getting married. Looking at me he smiled. "Ready Mr. Khanna?".

"Yes", saying this I checked myself for the last time in the mirror. "Bro you look good", I heard Daksh's voice at the back.

"That I know", I replied smirking at him, whilst he scowled at me. I was dressed in Red sherwani which had embroidered floral motifs all around, with a Mandarin collar and full sleeve. Pairing it with warm ivory-colored trousers and a red shawl.

The engagement was taking place in our home. I went downstairs long with Sharav, Daksh, Devesh uncle, and Dadu. The hall of my home was now totally covered with flowers and hoops. I felt like I was in some garden which had all the flowers bloomed—like it was spring season. When I met the Arora family I took the blessing of all the elders, whilst Sahil and I shared a bro hug. But my eyes were desperately searching for my Pari. Even Daksh was looking for Nila.
