The next morning I woke up, did homework, cleaned up and did some laundry before preparing for my dinner with Oscar. I was so nervous. I didn’t know what was going to happen but I hoped it would end amicably.

I got dressed and walked to Oscar’s.

“Hey.” I said as he opened the door.

He stood there shirtless and I couldn’t help but admire him for a second. I was beginning to miss the way his skin felt against mine.

“Nati. I’m glad you’re here. Come in, I’m almost ready.” he said.

The moment I walked in, I felt sick to my stomach. Just knowing that another woman was in here gave me all sorts of weird feels.

Oscar went to put his shirt on and met me back in the living room.

“I missed you” he said as he kissed my cheek.

“Yeah. Missed you too. So uhm, where are we going?” I asked.

“A nice restaurant in Hollywood. I made reservations yesterday.” Oscar replied.

He opened the door for me and we were on our way. The whole car ride my mind was racing. I had so many questions to ask and I didn’t know where to start.

“So Nati… uhm… I guess we have some talking to do” Oscar said breaking the silence.

“Yup.” I replied.

“I guess I should start explaining shit.” he said.

“Good idea” I responded.

“I don’t know where to start Nati.” he replied.

“From the beginning would be nice. How long have you two been together?” I asked.

“Uhm. Met her in 5th grade. We were always on and off but got serious when I was a freshman. She was always on my ass. I had cheated on her a lot of times but it never bothered her. She would tell me that me cheating is the price to pay for being in love with a Santo.” Oscar replied.

“Did you love her?” I asked.

“At one point, yes when I was just a kid and not for long. But when we were in high school she became toxic. Always arguing, breaking things, going through my shit, stealing money from me. The list goes on. It was easy to cheat on her because I didn't love her.  I really just kept her around because she was always around when I needed company and felt lonely. Truth is, I just used her. I always loved you Nati. You were always my true love, I just never thought you’d ever give me a chance. From the jump I thought you deserved better than me and never even considered taking my shot with you. Especially cause of Tito. But when you actually showed an interest in me, I was so excited, I just pushed forward and tried to forget my past. I thought our future would cancel everything out.” He said.

“So why did you allow her back into your life knowing that I loved you?” I asked.

Oscar sighed and took a long pause.

“She used to write me when I was in jail, and visit. It stopped after a while and she found someone else. But before I got home, one of my boys told me she broke up with her mans. So I messaged her first thing when I got out. I honestly just wanted a quick fuck. But then I saw you… all those feelings for you resurfaced. I dubbed her that day and tried to spit my game to you. I’m not gonna lie, I did have to call her over so I can bust a quick nut. But that was before we were together. Since then… she’s been contacting me almost every day.” Oscar replied.

“And it never occured for you to tell me this sooner?” I asked.

“Not really. She was just… always around and available for most my life. Before you...” Oscar replied.
