71. Christmas Eve

For the next few days, Feng Jiu and Dong Hua were tied up with work, and they barely talked to each other.

Feng Jiu spent all her free time at home knitting her scarf, and she finally managed to finish it by Thursday night. She put it in a beautiful white box and had a pretty red bow tied to it. "Hopefully, Dong Hua would like my handmade gift."

After slaving for days at work, they also finished their project on Thursday and successfully handed over the project to Zhi Yue Art Gallery. After settling the second last meeting at 7 PM, Dong Hua took out his phone and called Feng Jiu.

Feng Jiu: Hello! Are you done with your meeting?

Dong Hua: Yes. Xiao Bai, what are you doing now? Did you have dinner yet?

Feng Jiu: I just had dinner, and I'm preparing some food ingredients for tomorrow's potluck gathering. I am going to make Ginger Onion Fish Fillet - Jiāng cōng yú piàn (姜葱鱼片).

Dong Hua: Wow, that sounds nice, and I can't wait to eat your fish tomorrow. Remember to save some for me since I have the last meeting to attend tomorrow. I would only be there around 8 PM.

Feng Jiu: Oh? You have another meeting tomorrow? But it's Christmas Eve! I will keep some for you then.

Dong Hua: I don't have a choice, Xiao Bai. I'll make it quick so I can quickly come to the gathering and try your Ginger Onion Fish Fillet.

Feng Jiu: *Yawns* Okay, make it quick. I'll wait for you at the gathering!

Dong Hua: You sound tired, so go to bed now. Good night, Xiao Bai.

Feng Jiu: Yeah, I'm heading to bed now. Okay, see you tomorrow. Good night, Dong Hua. Sleep early too!

Then they hung up the call, and Feng Jiu instantly fell asleep. Dong Hua did some more work before heading to bed too.

The next morning, Feng Jiu woke up at 10 AM and began preparing for the potluck gathering. Dong Hua also woke up at the same time, and he started typing on his laptop to finalize up details for the last meeting later on. His custom-made Christmas gift for Feng Jiu was also delivered straight to his office early in the morning.

On the other side, Ji Heng was up way too early as she was 'excited' to execute her evil plan. After having her lunch at home, she quickly got changed into casual clothing, wearing a hat and sunglasses. Then she headed to the nearby cyber cafe and sat down at a far corner. Then she turned on the VPN mode on the computer and started on her evil plan.

First, she created a new anonymous email, and she forwarded the photoshopped picture of Xiao Yan and Feng Jiu to that email. She thought to herself, "Once Dong Hua sees this, he would be so mad, and he would ditch Feng Jiu for sure. I'll save the picture of Su Moye and Feng Jiu for next time. This photoshopped picture clearly showed them holding hands so it would be useful too."

Then she drafted an email to Dong Hua's personal work email. At this point, it didn't come to her mind that only a few people had Dong Hua's personal work email, and it would eventually backfire on her. She decided just to send the photoshopped picture to Dong Hua, and then she quickly logged out of everything. After that, she paid for the time used at the cyber cafe and promptly left the place to head home. She also decided to wear a nice dress to the gathering tonight so that she could impress Dong Hua.

Ji Heng was Min Su's Secret Santa and vice versa. She got Min Su a pathetic gift voucher, and then she bought a branded purple tie for Dong Hua. Ji Heng actually noticed Dong Hua wearing Feng Jiu's purple tie often, so she assumed that he was into a new colour.
