"Hoy, saan kayo pumunta ni Haji at bigla kayong nawala?" tanong ni Reika habang nagpapalit kami ng damit pantulog. Marami ang mga guests pero marami rin naman ang mga kwarto kaya naman kaming dalawa lang ni Reika ang magkasama sa kwarto. Slade, on the other hand, is with his bandmates.
I sighed as I sat on the bed while still putting on my polo. "He took it hard, Rei... Denver and Braylee's engagement."
Natigilan si Reika dahil sa sinabi ko at mabilis na napalingon sa akin. "Tama pala ang kutob ko."
I smiled at her. "Napansin mo rin pala..."
Tumango siya. "I always thought he had a huge crush on Braylee... But hey, he'll get over it one day."
"I have a feeling it would take a long time..." I looked down on the floor, absentmindedly picking the skin on the side of my thumb. "It's not just a crush, after all."
Silence enveloped the room until Reika knelt right in front of me and held my hand, stopping my finger from picking on my skin. "How was it?"
Nakunot ang noo ko dahil sa bigla niyang pagiging seryoso. It's been a while since we had a serious talk, puro na lang kasi kami kalokohan sa tuwing nag-uusap.
"How's what?" I chuckled.
"How's meeting Jethro again after two years?"
"Oh..." I moved my head up and down, realizing what she wants to talk about. I smiled and shrugged. "It's good. It wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. You were right, para ngang walang nangyari."
"See!" She grinned and patted my thighs. "Told you there's nothing to worry about. You both moved on already so we can all go back to being friends, just like the good old days."
My heart felt a tug of guilt. I used to worry about what would happen if Reika and Slade decide to break-up, but I ended up being a hypocrite after breaking up Jethro.
"I'm sorry, Rei..." I held her hand back.
"Sira ka talagang elemento ka! There's nothing to be sorry for!" Humalakhak siya. "Pero seryoso, okay na talaga kayo? Hindi ka naiilang?"
For her sake, I nodded and smiled. "All good. Nagbiruan pa nga kami nina Haji kanina."
"Yes!" Reika collapsed on the floor, raising her hands in relief. She looked so happy as she rolled around the tiled floor. "I learned my lesson! 'Di na kita ulit ibubugaw pa! O kung ibubugaw man kita, promise hindi na sa kabarkada!"
"Shhh!" Pabiro ko siyang sinipa. "Hinaan mo ang boses mo, para kang tanga."
Bigla siyang napaupo, magulo ang buhok at kunot-kunot na ang polo at pajama. "Does this mean you'll return to Filimon Heights?"
"Puchangama." Ngumiwi ako. "I'm happy with my stable career in Manila. I can't just leave my patients, too. Kayo na ni Slade ang lumipat doon."
