Faith couldn't help but feel rather fidgety ㅡ her hands kept twitching at her sides and she found herself chewing her lip apprehensively more times than she would have liked to admit as McGonagall pulled out a long scroll of parchment and began reading names aloud. As "Abbot, Henry" was sorted into Ravenclaw, Faith's eyes wandered to the Gryffindor table where she found Sirius and James waving enthusiastically at her, Remus looking like he was trying hard to dissociate himself while Peter laughed silently beside them. She grinned and winked back, and Sirius silently cried out and clutched his heart, dramatically falling onto Peter's lap in a swooning fit.

"Wise, Penny,"

A girl with dirty blonde hair sat on the stool, and before the hat had even touched her head it screamed, "SLYTHERIN!" Penny smirked as the hem of her robes melted into an emerald green and made her way to the cheering table at the far right.

"Boot, Jerry," a boy with a confident smile on his face was sorted into Ravenclaw, and "Dennis, Valentine" was sorted into Hufflepuff. After a while, there were only 6 people left ㅡ Faith included ㅡ and 5 people were sorted into Hufflepuff, 4 into Ravenclaw, 4 into Slytherin and 3 into Gryffindor.

Faith's heart began racing as the next name was called. "Pearce, Aurora" was sorted into Slytherin, and thenㅡ

"Potter, Faith."

Ignoring the stares she could feel burning into her back, Faith stepped up confidently up to the stall and jammed the hat onto her head, heart hammering in my chest.

It hadn't even been two seconds when she heard, "GO FAITH! WOO!" from her annoying, silly, and only cousin James. The hilarious thing was that Lily said it at the same time, and Faith found herself grinning despite her nerves.

"Ah! Another Potter!"

Faith jumped, wondering where the hell the voice was coming from, when it none too kindly informed her, "I'm the hat on your head, and I can hear your thoughts about me you know."

"Oops, sorry," mumbled Faith. In an instant an idea flashed through her head, and she heard the hat sigh.

"No, I will not shout Slytherin just to scare your friends and family, Potter."

"Oh, come on! Live a little!"

"I'm not even alive."

"Damn, I wish I wasn't."

"This has taken a dark turn. I'm going to sort you now."

"Okie dokes."

The Sorting Hat mumbled quietly to itself for a while, and Faith resisted the urge to swing her legs back and forth on the stool, wondering what was taking so long. Was she going to become one of those things ㅡ a 'hat stall'?
