I looked up to the place I considered my personal hell, just to see the house I'd have to stay in and hopefully survive for the next week.

Looking around, there was a simple stone path leading up to the house; it was cracked and when i stepped on it it seemed to crumble beneath my feet. Weeds grew between each crack, entangling together, the garden was simple but scared the hell out of me, it had a few plants and fruit as well as the odd vines here and there.

But the thing that scared me was the rotting corpse lying not too far from me, blood worms and maggots seemed to creep slowly toward it, it was hard for me to tell if it was girl or boy never mind if it was human or not, the sight sent a fearful shiver to roll down my spine.

Deciding best to get away from the body, I ran toward the creaky wooden stairs that lead to my uncertain doom. Before opening the door, I peered through the window coated in dust to see a small study, it looked old yet had a modern touch to it.

"Okay here goes nothing", I said, before reaching for the door handle and pushing it open. The entry hall was beautiful compared to the outside, it was decorated ornately with candles lining it, and portraits of random people hung in time-order, it was quite old fashioned and reminded me of a castle.

I was a little curious as to how us humans and the monsters came to this sort of agreement. Do they have the same motive as us? Or do they just enjoying letting our numbers dwindle? I don't think I'd ever find out, but there's no harm in wondering.

One particular portrait caught my eye just as I was about to pass it. It featured a middle aged woman who had to be from the 1800s. She had the slightest hint of a smile on her lips, next to her sat a common grey wolf. She had her hand resting on the wolfs neck and the wolf itself seemed fairly content.

That was when it sunk in, all of these portaits were images of the different monsters that  could be kept in here. I assume they use monsters from one specific bloodline, meaning the woman I was staring at was the ancestor to the beast I would see tonight.

I continued my way to the end of the hall, until I reached a long ascending staircase. Quietly walking up it, I came to a room that I could stay in. I sat on the four post bed placed in the centre of the room and sighed, I'd have to stay here for a week with no escape because they had locked the front door, I heard the mechanic lock click as soon as I closed the door behind me.

I got up and locked the bedroom door so i wouldn't have any unexpected murdering visitors, then jumped in the shower before going to bed to rest.

(3 hours later)

I woke up to a thud outside my room. The realisation that the wolf had found me slowly, "I'm going to die, I'm going to die", I kept repeating to myself. The hinges to the door began to un-hitch as the beast tried to break through the door. I couldn't help but let out a scream as the door flew open revealing the nightmare I had tried to avoid, snarling at me as it got into a crouching position ready to pounce for me.

Oh God I'm going die...
