Chapter 5

My friends and I were hanging out under a tree by the lake just laughing and getting along, like any normal group of kids would. In this moment, I couldn't help but feel normal and warm. Looking at the smiling and laughing faces of my friends, joking around and enjoying the little things, it was hard to tell that one of us was the spawn of a mass murderer. Wow, I'm such a cheery person.

I couldn't help but think about who my dad was. If my friends knew that I was Lord Voldemorts daughter... would they still be hanging around me, laughing with me? Enjoying my company? Would they fear me? I mean, I am powerful, I can fly without a broom and do some magic without a wand. My father produces fear in everybody, if I was his child, and I am..... people would fear me too. I could turn evil or provoke fear in many ways... but I would never do that. I'm not my father.

I wonder how my mom could handle being surrounded by his evil doings, or him. That's so weird. She is the kindest woman I know, so loving and gentle. I don't understand how she could have tolerated him.

"Ron!" Hermione said sounding annoyed. " It's levi-oooo-sah not levi-o-saaaah!" she said impatiently as she tried to teach Ron how to make things levitate.

Three guesses on how well that's going.

I rolled my eyes at Harry when we caught eyes, and we laughed. Hermione has been trying to teach Ron this spell for a few hours now. He's hopeless, and she's impatient, so by now they are both very irritable. It was actually quite amusing to watch.

" I bloody know what I'm doing Mione!" Ron said angrily as he jabbed his wand at the stone he was practicing on.

" Well obviously you don't, because the stone's not levitating!!" Hermione said sounding exasperated.

Ron gave Hermione an extremely aggrevated look.

"Ok!" I said trying to keep the fighting to a minimum. " Who wants to play some wizards chess??" I said in fake excitement.

Rons anger toward Hermione dissolved in a matter of a second. He loved wizards chess, it was his type of game. I don't particularly like it. I've never been good at it, and I can't sit still and just sit through the game thinking where to put what piece. It drives me crazy.

"Yes! C'mon Harry lets play!" Ron said with so much excitement.

Ron went to his book bag and took out his wizards chess set. Harry and him started playing eagerly.

Hermione sent me a resentful look.

"You know he needs to study." she said disapprovingly.

"He was about to kill you, Mione, besides he needed a break." I said trying to soothe her.

Hermione and I stood in silence as we listened to Harry and Ron playing. Hearing our friends laugh and shouts of joy combined with the birds singing and the gentle lapping of the lake made everything so peaceful. It was so relaxing.

" Check mate!" Ron said excitedly.

Hermione and I smiled at how happy Ron was at his game. It was very endearing.

Hermione heaved a sigh and sat back down under the great tree, seeming to accept defeat and enjoy the peace while it lasted. I sat down beside her closing my eyes and breathing in the fresh air. It was so relaxing being able to just sit here with my best friends.
