Ashton's POV:
__________________________________________
I walk away from her, silently cursing myself. I can't believe I just did that. Singing to her I've done before, mostly goofing around. Singing her favorite song, never, especially to her. For heavens sake, I kissed her. On the cheek but, still.

I look over my shoulder and she's still standing there, looking at her feet. I turn back around and run into Lindsay.

"If you want me, you just have to say the word." She giggles, twirling her hair.

I push past her and try to ignore her disgusting flirting. I slide past couples making out, people dancing, and drunk girls. People keep saying my name but, I ignore them.

I bump into Wesley. "Where's Emmet?"

"Outside making out with some chick. Why?"

"Is he drunk?" I ask ignoring his question.

"No. He's trying this thing where he drinks water from a solo cup and acts drunk." Wesley snorts.

"Great." Wes looks at me like I'm crazy but I'm already pushing my way outside.

"Emmet!" I yell once I'm outside. I look around but there's no light so I can only see shadows moving in the dark.

"What?" Someone calls out.

"Where are you?"

"Swing set dude."

I make my way towards the direction I think is the swing set. My eyes have finally adjusted to the dark. I see Emmet sitting on one of the swings. A girl is sitting in his lap, legs around his waist.

"Go."

"Excuse me?" She asks.

Emmet takes one look at my face. "Leave."

She gets off his lap and mutters something about guys.

"What's up?" He asks, suddenly serious.

I sit down in the swing next to him and put my head in my hands. "I don't know man. I think I messed up."

He runs his hand over his face. "What'd you do?"

"Cece."

"Oh dear lord. Why aren't you talking with Wesley about this?"

"Your the only one that seems to know."

"Know what?" I give him a look. "Start from the beginning." He sighs.

"I don't even know where that is."

"Okay-"

"Wesley likes her." I blurt out.

"No dip. And?"

"And I don't like it."

"You're jealous. You like her."

"I can't. It's impossible, she's my best friend. Nothing more."

"That's what your brain says but, your heart says something different."

"I hate my heart."

"Tell me what happened."

"I was getting a drink when I saw her dancing with Caroline. I knew she was going to be here. I didn't know she was going to look like that. When that guy walked up to her and they started to dance to a slow song, I thought I was going to punch him. I'd never wanted to punch someone that badly. I walked over and started listening to their conversation. Football was brought up and he assumed she was the manager. THE FUCKING MANAGER!" I yell.
