Chapter 19: An Old Game With a Old Friend

It had been fifteen minutes since Liz left, I was currently playing Minecraft on my Nintendo Switch, I never liked the controls but I hadn't played it on the switch for ages so thought I would. I had only just finished building my house and I heard the door bell ring. I shouted out to them, assuming it was Liz, "Come in!"
But then I remembered, that Liz never rings.
"James?"
That wasn't Liz. Visions of my dream came back. I start to back away slowly.
"Who is it?"
"It's me," they said as they started to walk into sight, "Shell"
Oh. Okay. No-one told me she was coming.
"Oh! It's you! You gave me a fright"
"Sorry, I thought you knew I was coming"
"Why would I know that?"
"Because Liz would have told you?"
"What?"
"You were still asleep so I told her to tell you"
"Oh, okay. She didn't"
"Oh well, I'm here now. How are ya?"
"I'm good thanks. You?"
"Yeah, good cause you're good. What ya doing?" she asked as she peered over my shoulder.
"I-"
"Playing Minecraft! Typical James!"
"Haha, very funny."
I gave her a bit of a bear hug.
"Now you're here, what do you want to do?"
"I may as well join you"
"Noo, I know you don't play Minecraft!"
"Hey, I used to. And I've never played it on the Switch. I'm joining you"
"Okay then, but tell me if you want to stop"
We then went on to play for 30 minutes. She actually enjoyed it, but I think it was more that she was with me rather than playing Minecraft. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking, anyway, she's here now and that's what matters.
"Hey, James?"
"Yeah?"
"Where's Hannah?"
"She's ah, in her bedroom doing homework"
"Okay. And Liz?"
"Getting lunch"
"OK"
It's was a bit of an awkward silence for a bit, until I spoke up.
"Wanna watch a movie?"
"Sure"
"Okay, which one?"
"Up to you James. You're the one that lives here and knows what movies you have after all"
"OK then"
I chose to put on Red Dog, we both sat on the floor, leaning against the couch. It wasn't long till I feel asleep.
