Forbidden Love

Trip back

Jason's pov.

     On the way back to the castle Alana drifted off to sleep, to be fair she's has had a rough couple of days. Jax woke up a few times and I found myself petting him as I watched the world pass by outside the window. I didn't realize that dogs could snore but it was happening , and loudly might I add.

     I kept replaying the scene in my head, me dropping to the ground and holding Alana... What got into me? I don't know what it was but something felt off when I saw her upset like that, the need to comfort her took over and I suppose it was an instinct.

    Eventually the dog stopped snoring and was in what seemed to be a deep sleep. I glance over at Alana and she looks so peaceful, almost angelic as she breathes softly I almost want to caress her hair but I know that's not appropriate. I'm her boss, and she's just a peasant girl who I'm getting out of trouble and using for my own benifit.

     I start to drift off myself when the wagon hits a major rut in the road and I hear a loud crack. Alana is jolted awake along with Jax and I. She looks at me concerned and starts to say something but I cut her off. "Shh, it's alright. Just stay here with Jax and be quiet. I'll check it out." I say to her and hop out of the wagon.

     I walk around and find that the Axle had snapped , I sigh and walk over to the driver. "Looks like we're taking the horses back to the castle and leaving the wagon behind." He nods "Yes sir, I'll get the horses ready while you get the girl and dog."

     I go back over to the door and open it. "I'm sorry Alana , but it looks like we're riding the horses back to the castle. Can Jax keep up?." She rolls her eyes and me and climbs out of the wagon with Jax at her heels. "Is that even a question?" She asks sarcastically.

     I chuckle and lead her over to the horses. "Meet you at the castle Ty." I say to the driver and he takes off, leaving a horse behind for me and Alana. I climb up onto the horse and offer my hand to her but zhe shakes her head and swings her leg over so she's on the horse with no assistance.

     She huffs and whines "Can I be in the front it's been forever since I've been behind the reigns of a horse?" I sigh and think to myself that I'm an idiot, but the girl has had a rough day and I  need to see what kind of skills she has regardless. "Fine, but don't make me regret it." I mumble. efore switching her spots on the horse.

I hear her chuckle as she takes the reigns. "You should probably hold on."
I wrap my arms around her waist as she nudges the horse into a full gallop with Jax by our side.
