Problems

I dumped my satchel on the floor beneath my feet and sat down on a shiny, wooden bench. I grabbed a few ham and cheese sandwhiches and began to shove them into my mouth - I was hoping that I wouldn't have to speak, my mind was still spinning in awe at the news from that morning. Sadly, luck was not on my side,

"Woah!" began Gisela, "Slow down Lena!" she laughed, which made me feel a bit better,

"Sorry, I'm just, um, really hungry is all,"   I swallowed and looked up, she frowned again,

"You sure something isn't bothering you?" I shook my head,

"Why would anything be bothering me?" I laughed, trying not to add the fact that my parents were getting divorced and they didn't even tell me, my mum had already met someone else, a wizard even, and was already pregnant. My eyes flared with rage and it was all I could do to stop myself from either bursting into tears or punching the table. Gisela must have noticed this as she said,

"Lena?!" her voice full of anxiety, "Sit back down!" I hadn't even noticed I had been standing. Everyone in the hall was looking at me, I sat back down, shyly hiding my head in my robes. My knuckles were white and I realiised that I had slammed my fists of the table. Get a grip, Lena! I told myself, taking deep, shaky, breaths.

"Sorry, Gisela," I muttered, "I didn't realise I was doing it." she smiled sympathetically,

"It's fine," her smile died a little, "Listen, there's something I need to tell you..."

"What is it?" now I was the one who's voice was full of sympathy,

"The other day, I got a letter." she seemed to be getting quieter, "My dad was attacked by a dark wizard and is in St. Mungos." she finished, her voice now barely a whisper. I bit my lip and shook my head,

"I'm so sorry, Gisela." I said, looking down, "He'll get better, trust me," I added, trying to sound reasuring. Gisela smiled gratefully and gave me a hug,

"Thanks Lena," She looked down, "There is something else too..." she trailed off, but seemed to be snapped back out of her thoughts, "He gave me his invisibility cloak." My mouth dropped open and I gasped,

"No way!"

"Shh!" she whispered, "Keep your voice down!"

"Sorry!" Gisela pulled out her timetable and her eyes slid up and down the faded piece of parchment,

"We need to go, we've got Astronomy next and proffesser Linghurst will kill us if we're late," I nodded and we headed to class - me still not believing what had just happened.

It looked like we all had problems. Alyssa had her sister, Gisela had her dad, and I... well, I had my family. Yup, we all had problems, that was for sure, but it seemed to me a little suspicious that they all happened at the same time. I pushed the thought away - I was being stupid.
