Chapter 6 : How To Get Your Job Back

“This lab place is fucking far.”

“We’re almost there,” I replied. “It won’t take long.”

“It better not. I’ve been in New York for too long. He’ll for sure find me if I stay another day.”

I looked to him, very curious. “Who?”

“No one,” Warren muttered. “I just can’t stay in one place for too long.”

        “That sucks.”

“Yeah,” He said after a while. “It does.”

We continued driving on the highway, far, far away from live. Diamond Labs is in a quiet area, with no life around. It can’t really be exposed to the public, because no on really knows what goes on in there. If you don’t work there, you don’t get access. They’re going to be on Warren’s ass like hot glue.

Warren started fiddling with the radio. I stayed quiet, until he put on a Fall Out Boy song. “You like Fall Out Boy?”

He looked over at me. “Yeah. Why?”

“No reason,” I shrugged. “Just thought you’d like Beethoven better, you old record player.” Warren glared at me as I started cracking up with laughter.

“Yeah, laugh it up. Once I’m back to being a vampire, my first victim is going to be you.”

My laughter subsided. “What does that mean?”

“You’re a smart girl. Figure it out.”

It dawned on me. “No! You can’t!”

        “I’ll be gentle, I promise.”

        “Warren,” I growled out.

“Ooh,” He said. “I like when you say my name like that. Do it again.”

I flipped him off and pulled into the parking lot for the labs. My pass was taken away, so I have to go through the front door. They’ll be on my ass for coming back again. I tried three times to get my job back. They said if I came back again, they would arrest me for harassment.

But I have proof now, so they can’t do anything but give me my job back.

We got out of the car and walked around the large facility until we were at the front. My camera was gripped in my hand. I had charged it in the car when we were driving. It instantly dropped ten degrees when we got inside. The labs were kept very cold for obvious reasons.
