Fear is a strong emotion, which can get to you at any given moment.
It might not be there for a long time, leaving you alone with happiness. But it will never fully disappear.
One day, it comes back.

My apartment door is open. But I'm sure that I closed and locked it when i left with Gabriel earlier today.
That means someone else has opened it and is possibly still inside, waiting for me to return.

"Give me your hand." Gabriel says in a whisper. My hand slips into his, holding it tightly.
"Stay behind me. I'll keep you safe I promise."
Slowly we walk towards the open door and Gabriel reaches to his hip, taking out his gun, ready to shoot at any danger.
He looks over his shoulder, straight into my eyes, silently asking if I'm ready. I nod slowly and together we step into the apartment.

My mouth falls open as I try to process the scene in front of me.
The whole place is a mess. Everything is lying on the floor and everything that's breakable is broken.

Gabriel moves around the apartment, making sure not to make a sound.
Once he's seen everything and has made sure that all is safe, he turns towards me.
"No one is here, they've left."
I nod, still not trusting my voice.

Gabriel looks at me with apologising eyes and opens his arms. "Come here."
I walk into his open arms and wrap my arms around his waist, hiding my face in his chest.
His arms wrap around me as he holds me close. "It's okay Angel. I got you."
The fear slowly shimmers down and the longer I'm in Gabriel's arms, the safer I feel.

"Go see if anything is missing." Gabriel says after a while.
He loosens his arms a little and looks directly into my eyes. "Are you okay enough to do so on your own for a little? Then I'll call the guys over. Maybe we can find out who has been here."

I nod and start walking out of his arms, but Gabriel keeps then locked tightly around me.
"I want to hear you say it." He says, not letting me go so easily.
Taking a deep breath, I look back up into Gabriel's eyes. "Yes, I'm okay enough to be on my own."
"Better." He answers with a short nod. "I'll be by the door to let the guys in. Give a yell if you need me." Gabriel gives me a soft kiss on my forehead and walks off, leaving me alone in the living room.

Dark thoughts start to take over my mind as I look around the room. Who would have done this?
The 'normal' answer would be a burglar, someone I probably have never met before, someone who was looking for money.
But the only thing I can think of is my father.

Slowly my brain starts to function again as I scan through the room.
If my dad has done this, he probably has left a letter somewhere.

I walk around the apartment, trying to find a clue that would lead me to my father, but once I enter my bedroom, I forget what I was doing.

My closet is standing wide open and everything that was in it is lying across the floor.

My heartbeat quickens as I remember the two boxes I have hidden in the back of my closet.

I drop to my knees and start searching in between my clothes.
The box with my fathers stuff in it is laying under a few pants. I grab it and toss it on the bed.
But the other box is no where to be found and I feel tears pricking at the back of my eyes.
"No, no, no." I mumble as I start throwing clothing across the room.
