WEDNESDAY

Just as I thought my chance of being a captain was over, today Miss Tentra told us that the library assistant role was still available😃! It turns out that nobody really tried out for library assistant.

Since probably not a lot of people will try for the role today, I thought it was my time to shine!

I SERIOUSLY HOPE TO GET THE ROLE!!!!

But there's one problem: I didn't pre-prepare my speech! :(

You see, I just got the news today so I didn't have any time to prepare the speech. But on the plus side, Miss Tentra told us that we would only say the speech in front of the teachers! No students!😙

That means no judging, no teasing, no pressure (ok, maybe a little bit) no bullies, but most importantly- NO CRYSTAL!!!😃

Anyway, the speech was ok. It wasn't too bad (like last time.) But there's one thing I didn't get. I'm bit sure if it's supposed to be good or bad-

COREY TRIED OUT!!!!

That is the last person I would expect to be trying out for a library assistant! I mean, why would the school's most popular boy try out for library assistant when he could of easily got the role of president?!

Sometimes life does not make sense at all!

Anyway, as I walked to class B2 (where the speeches would be held) I crossed my fingers begged in my head-

Please let me not stuff up and get the role.

Please let me not stuff up and get the role.

Please let me not stuff up and get the role.

Please let me not stuff up and get the role.

Please let me not stuff up and get the role.

I thought that over.....

And over....

And over....

And over....

Again! 😕

GAHH!!!! I got it stuck in my head now!

And FINALLY I arrived at classroom B2. Where the speeches would be held!!! Anyways, I was FREAKING out by then. The butterflies in my stomach wouldn't stop and my stomach did a 180 no, make that 360 degree flip!

Fact #1 about me: I get nervous VERY easily.

And to make it worse, guess who I saw lining inside the classroom:

COREY SMITH!!!!!!!!!!!!

And there was one more person waiting to do the speech: this girl called Gabriella Jevone. As far as I know, she not-the-best writer and not-the-best public speaker. So I might be in for a chance!😃

But still, you never know what to expect with life.

Back to the story; I walked up to Mr Greene (known better as Mr Grumpyhead), the head of middle school. As far as I've checked, there's no teacher grumpier than Mr Greene.

Mr Grumpyhead: (grumpily) are you trying out for the speeches? If you're not, you're not supposed to be here.

Me: uhh.... I am trying out

Mr Grumpyhead: you must address me by my full name!

Me: yes mr Greene (how I wanted to say mr Grumpyhead instead!)

Mr Greene: that's better. We don't want impolite students here. Now go there and wait. Speeches will start in 3 minutes!

I just stood there and he was like: "WELL HURRY UP! WHAT ARE YOU STANDING HERE FOR?! GET MOVIN'!"

So much for telling me to be polite! 😡

Anyway, I waited with Corey and Gabriella for a few minutes. Corey was right to me and I stared at him, then he stared at me, then I stared at him, it went on like that forever until I was saved by Mr Grumpyhead.

Phewf! That was awkward!

"Attention! Speeches are starting now. Who wants to go first?" Mr Grumpyhead shouted in a grumpy voice. I looked at Corey, the at Gabriella and they did the same thing. Luckily, Corey volunteered! 😊

And it turns out the teachers who will be listening to our speeches will be:

-Mr Grumpyhead (obviously)

-Mrs Plumid (the librarian!)

-Miss Tentra (year 8 student manager)

-Mrs Collins (why?! My English teacher!!!😶)

-Mr Abbot (vice head of middle school)

GAAHHH!!! By that time I was so nervous that I was breaking into cold sweat! An- and I haven't even exactly thought through my speech yet!

I repeat: I have NOT prepared my speech!

Ok, so I kind of knew what I was gonna say. I tried to recite it in my head while Corey did his speech. But I was too nervous to do it! So I ended up listening to Corey's speech. To admit, it was actually quite good!

And when he finished, miss Tentra was like: "good job Corey, who wants to go next?"

Uh-oh. I crossed my fingers! Not me!!!

I looked at Gabriella and she looked at me. That seemed to go on forever until-

"That's it! Jenny! You're up!" Mr Grumpyhead yelled annoyed.

Uh-oh. This is it, I thought. It's now or never!😶

I tried to act calm and casual, but on the inside I was FREAKING OUT!!!!!!! There was butterflies no, make that ALLIGATORS in my stomach! :(

So I stepped up and started my speech. It was something like this:

"Uh... Good morning Mr Greene, Mr Abbot, Mrs Plumid, Miss Tentra and Mrs Collins..... My name is Jenny Despecable and I think I should be the library assistant because.... Um...."

So it was something like that. I mean, it was better than last time- at least not as much pressure! (That was me glancing at you, Crystal!😡)

It turns out that Gabriella's speech was quite similar to mine. Well, I guess we're even. It comes down to the teachers!

If I don't get the role I could just SCRRREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!
