Song for the chapter:

I love you // Stay Strong

I walk into the bedroom. I lean against the door frame. Melody's in front of the mirror trying to zip up her dress. "Here," I say walking toward her. "I got it," I offer. "No,no, its okay." she protests. I grip her hands, pulling them away from the dress. I hold her hands at her side, stepping closer. "I said, I got it," I whisper into her ear. Her eyes close momentarily. I smirk. I move her hair from her left side and place it on the right side. I step even closer, our bodies now touching. After I zipped up her dress I grip her hair and let it loose down the center of her back. I kiss her cheek and smile at her through the mirror. "You ready?" she sighs, and nods.

"Reservation for Styles," I tell the hostess."Yes," he smiles "Right this way." He grasps some menus ad leads us to our table. He decided on a booth. Melody slides in first, I slide in afterward. The hostess places our menus in front of us and one on the opposite side for my mother when she arrives. "Your waiter will be here shortly,"He offers us one last smile before walking off. 'So," I turn to Melody. She hasn't spoken all night. "So," she repeats.

"You look beautiful," I say genuinely. And again she gives me the 'I don'tbelive me look but thank you anyway face. I kiss her. A simple peck. After pulling away,I grin, she grins back. I can feel a pair of eyes on us. I turn and see my mum staring at us in awe and admiration. I giver her the 'Don't start look.' She smiles and scoots into the booth. I don't even have to look at Melody to know she's probably as red as a tomato right now. I clear my throat. "Melody, this is my mum. Mum, Melody,"My mom smiles in her direction. "You look gorgeous tonight dear,"she compliments Melody. "Thank you, so do you," Melody returns a smile.

"How are you?" She asks Melody. "I'm," she pauses."Doing better," She flashes a small smile at my mum then she lifts her head to smile at me. Warmth spreads through me as IGladly return the smile. "That's great to hear sweetie."

Ten minutes later and our waiter finally comes and we place our food orders. "So,Harry, how has everything been for you out here?" My mum asks as the waiter grabs our menus."It's refreshing. I really needed a new start," She nods understandably . We fall into a somewhat awkward silence for a couple minutes. "How's school going?" My mum breaks the silence.

"School is going good. We're on spring beak now. Which is why Melody is staying with me." She nods. "And what about you for you, Melody?"

"She just started like two weeks before we left for break." I say. I can tell my mum wants to say something but she decided against it. The night went on slowly made up of mostly small talk. Catching up with my mom. The only new thing was that my sister, Emily is engaged and her wedding is in a couple months. I've met her fiancee a couple times but never thought that it would have become serious. They have been dating for two years so it really isn't that big of a shock. I'm happy for her. After paying for meal we walk my mum to her car."Hey, Melody can I speak with you for a second?" she nods.

My mum grabs her hand and walks her to the back of the car out of earshot. Melody looks back at me confused. I shrug, and smile reassuringly. I don't know what the hll they we're talking about but ten minutes later they both walk back over to me, hands clasps and tear running down both of their faces. I give my mum the 'what the hell did you do' look. She waves me off.She runs her hand up and down Melody's back then hugs her and kisses the top of her forehead. She whispers something else that I again can't hear. I try not to feel annoyed by their secrecy.

My mum then wraps me in a familiar, long hug. I sigh, I really did miss her. "Do you need a ride to the airport in the morning?" I ask after she pulls away. I grab Melody's hand giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Yes, that'll be great. Thank you. Ill see you both in the morning, hopefully. Goodnight Harry, Melody. Drive safe!" She calls out before she closes the car door. We walk to my car. Our fingers still intertwined. I love how small little gestures like holding hands or a kiss on the cheek means so much. Every small step is a huge step for Melody. She's opening up. I am truly proud of her progress. We release hands as we separate to our sides of the car. It feels nice outside. Not too cold, it's just right with a slight breeze.

When we're both settled in the car, the car roars to life and I pull off. Melody is still silent. I can tell her head is somewhere else. I decide not to ask, if she wanted me to know she'd tell me.

I almost swerved the car as I felt a small hand on mine . I flick my head to the side. Melody's vision trained straight ahead. She looks so stiff. I gladly intwine our fingers. She pulls my hand so it's now rested in her lap. One hand is playing with my rings as the other is covered by mine. I smile ear to ear. As my heart pounds at her sweet, small gesture.

Twenty minutes later we're parked in my garage a little too soon she lets go of my hand to get out of the car. As soon as we're both out I grab her hand leading her into the house.

"What'd my mom say to you?" I ask as we both lay on our backs looking at the ceiling. We've already shed of the clothes from tonight now in our pajamas.

"Nothing."

"Bullshit," I snort.

"I'm serious, Harry."

"I'm going to tickle you if you don't tell me."

"HAR-,"

And I'm on top of her pinning her down cutting her off. "Tell me," I warn. She shakes her head. I tickle her. She kicks, and screams incoherent phrases but nonetheless the overpowering sound of her laugh out rules it all. "Okay! Okay! I'll tell you!" she screams finally. I stop, and smirk.

"Talk, or I will tickle you again," I warn trying to sound serious but fail as I feel my lips twitch into a smile.

"She said that you cared about me," she's now whispering. "I do, you know that. Don't you?" I ask. She nods.

"What else did she say?"

"She knows I care about you."

"And?"

"And you have one more really," all volume is stolen out her voice.

"What?"

"You have one more really." I don't understand.

"Melody I don-,"

"I'm thirsty," she cuts me off sliding off the bed. "Do you want anything?" she offers. Still puzzled I shake my head. She nods and leaves the room.
