Btw, read this chapter to the end because I have a surprise for you guys.

The entire day I was walked around and forced to talk to people, but all that did was make me think about Lux. Eventually Cassius started to notice my discomfort and he continuously asked if I needed to take a break. Although every time I told him it was fine, that I was fine.

Finally he got fed up and dragged me aside.

"Alabaster, I know you're not okay," he said as I rolled my eyes, "tell me what's going on."

"It's nothing, really," I sighed and placed my hand on his chest, "come on, let's go back."

"Alabaster," he said with a warning tone and gently pulled me back, "something is wrong and we both know it." I looked down and didn't reply. "What happened to you?"

I bit down hard on my trembling lip and tried to keep my tears at bay.

"Nothing happened! I'm fine, alright?" I hissed and clenched my jaw, "Lux didn't-" I choked on the words and covered my mouth with my palm. Cassius sucked in a slow breath and wrapped his arms around me. I couldn't help but let the tears fall down my cheeks.

"Hey, I've got you," he whispered and kissed my brow, "I won't let him take you away again."

I sobbed into his chest and fisted his shirt in my hands. Cassius cooed in my ear until my breathing calmed down some.

"Cassius-" I started and chewed on my bottom lip and took a deep breath, "Cassius, I think you need to know the whole story."

When I was finished Cassius sat on the side of our bed in silence. I couldn't tell what he was feeling.

"Cassius?" I whispered and touched his shoulder gently. He ran a hand over his mouth and took a slow breath.

"He hurt you like that? For... for months?" Cassius' voice cracked slightly when he asked. I scooted closer to him and turned his face to mine.

"Yes, he did," I said and I could see how angry my mate really was. It was in the way his jaw was clenched so tightly and his eyes burned with fire. "But you saved me, and I'm here now."

Cassius nodded slowly and reached out for me. I let him pull me into his lap and cradle me against his chest. The powerful thundering of his heart echoed in my ear and I found it comforting.

"Cassius, I want to have a kid," I finally breathed and pulled my fingers into tight fists nervously. "I want to try again and I want to have a life with you."

Without even realizing it he ran his knuckles over my abdomen where my scar was.

"Are you sure?" He breathed in my ear and kissed the top of my head.

"I know what I want, and it's all right here," I whispered and placed my hands on his broad shoulders, "if you'd let me have it."

I cupped his face in my hands and held eye contact until he spoke again, "I'd give you everything I have if you asked for it, Alabaster."

My eyes fluttered closed as our lips found each other and we kissed until I was straddling his waist and pushing him down on the mattress. Between breaths I kissed him, again and again and again because I never wanted this feeling to stop. I wanted to feel him like this for the rest of our lives. Cassius cupped my jaw in his palm and swept his thumb over my cheek in gentle strokes.

Soon I couldn't help but feel fire begin to burn in my stomach and pool like hot lava. I was almost embarrassed to say that just was hungry.
