Madison was in the supermarket when it happened.
She saw The Water Ice Man (that's what Madison calls him now) at the Self Checkout Line. He was ringing up lots and lots of watermelons.
Unfortunately, he saw her, smiled, pointed to the watermelons, and said, "I've got to have plenty of watermelons for the water ice shop!"
Madison shook her head and wondered why the man was buying watermelons for the shop. Shouldn't the owner do that? All of a sudden, this one simple question came to mind: Does he own the shop? Such a simple question, with such a simple thought attached to it: He's too weird to own a business.
Finally, the question came out loud. "Do you own that water ice shop?"
He looked at her and continued ringing up his watermelons at the same time. The man had a weird expression on his face. Finally, something came out. "Well, usually, I would tell people no. But I can't lie to you. Yes. I own Artie Vikes."
Madison could not believe that a man she hated so much could make the best water ice she had ever tasted.
