Chapter Thirty-One: Returning to Barcelona

Running a hand through her hair, Daniella shivered as she felt Gerard wrap his arms around her waist; she leant back against him as they stood in Bradley Sky-Ranch Airport as they waited for their private flight back.

“You okay?” Gerard asked softly as he glanced over at Katie and Lionel, who were cuddled together just a little away from them; he knew that the last two weeks had been trying for his mate and couldn't wait to get her home.

“It’s just a lot to take in,” Daniella said as she turned to face him, her brown eyes looking tired; she was wearing a grey animal print tunic top and black pull on jeggings paired with black biker boots and a black waxed parka jacket to stay warm.

Gerard sighed as he rested his head against his mate’s, he couldn't wait to have her home safe especially now that she was pregnant with his child; he knew that there would be a lot of changes for her now.

Daniella offered Gerard a small smile before she kissed his lips; she worried that the revelation of who her parents were would cause them problems, she knew that she would be expected now that her parents had come to light and she had a feeling that she would no longer be Daniella Franca when they got  back to Barcelona.

“We’ll be okay?” the brunette asked softly making Gerard look at her, he nodded as he glanced over at her parents who were pretending not to notice how close the two of them where.

“Of course… I love you Dani,” Gerard reassured her, he would do anything for her and was only worried about what his Aunt and Uncle would do now that the truth was out.

It was at that moment that their flight was called; Daniella flashed Gerard a nervous smile as Katie and Lionel came to join them; the sooner that they were back in Barcelona the better.

Gerard smiled as he looked down at Daniella, who was curled up against him, he still couldn't believe that he hadn’t known that she was half vampire; not that it bothered him but it did make things easier for them.

“So you are Afron’s nephew?” Caius said as he sat down across from Gerard; he wanted to get to know the vampire that had taken his daughter as his mate again, she seemed perfectly content with him.

Amelia was watching the two from a little away; she wanted her daughter to be happy and wanted to ensure that, that is what Gerard made her.

“Yes… I’m a part of the Barcelona Coven, I was turned by Josep Guardiola,” Gerard said making Caius nod; he remembered hearing that Pep had turned his first Fledgling but he hadn’t believed that it was Afron’s human nephew.

“Why are you not a part of your family’s coven?” Caius asked casually as Daniella shifted closer to Gerard, it was as if she sensed the danger that hovered in the air.

Gerard glanced down at his mate, he knew what her father wanted and he hoped that he wouldn’t attempt to keep them apart even if he had already marked Daniella and gotten her pregnant.

“After he had Catharine executed… I couldn't remain there with them,” Gerard said making Amelia move to her mate’s side; they hadn’t expected to find someone who had suffered like they had when Catharine had been executed, they hadn't known that he had loved their daughter at all.

“Mr and Mrs Tanis… I love your daughter, I have since I first met her back in 1800. She means the world to me and now that I have her back, I will do anything to protect her,” Gerard said as he noticed that Lionel was listening to their conversation.

Lionel was cuddling Katie to his chest while he pretended to listen to some music, but it was clear that he was listening in on the conversation.

Amelia smiled softly as she looked at the vampire that held her daughter’s heart, it was clear that they had nothing to worry about.

“Then you have our blessing,” the ebony haired vampiress said before she walked away and settled herself down to read; Gerard looked at Caius who nodded in agreement, they were happy that their daughter had found someone like him.

Daniella moaned softly as she stretched, the flight had taken ten and a half hours and she was still a little tired even if she had slept through most of the flight; Gerard chuckled as he helped her to her feet, he couldn't wait to have her safe at home.

“Did you sleep okay?” Gerard asked as took her hand and they walked off the plane together, they knew that they could finally head home together.

The couple stopped short at the sight of the line of cars that were parked outside; it was clear that this was something to do with Caius and Amelia.

Daniella glanced at her mate, she had a feeling that they wouldn’t be returning to his home after all; the brunette had a feeling that her parents were going to insist that they return to their home with them.

“I slept well thanks,” Daniella said as they moved to continue their walk down the stairs; Caius was talking with one of the vampires while Amelia approached them.

“You’ll be joining us back at the manor… your coven have been informed of your return Gerard,” Amelia said making Daniella lean into her mate’s arms; she had a feeling that there was something that she was missing here.

“We have called to order the first vampire gathering in two millenniums,” Amelia said making Gerard swallow; he had heard of the importance of these gatherings and he had a feeling that with all the vampires that would descend on Barcelona that he was going to have to be careful with Daniella.

“Actually I wanted to head home with Gerard… with the baby and all, I want to be prepared,” Daniella said as she look at her mother, she knew that she needed to stand on her own two feet now and prove that she was stronger than she looked.

Amelia blinked as she looked at her daughter; she knew that the brunette wondering how she could convince her that it wasn’t safe for her to be alone with Gerard right now; she looked over at her husband who was walking towards them.

“That is fine, I’m sure the two of you have a lot to do,” Caius said knowing that this wasn’t going to be easy for them but they had to respect their daughter’s wishes; she wouldn’t be shown to the world until she’d had the baby anyway.

Amelia looked at her mate as he wrapped his arm around her, she didn't like what he had said but she knew that he was right; Daniella didn't know them and it would take time for them to build any sort of bond with their daughter.

Gerard nodded in thanks as he looked at Caius, he knew that the couple were entrusting their only daughter’s life in his hands and he wasn’t going to allow anything to happen to her again; he had lost her once and that had been enough for him.

“So where are we going?” Katie asked as she looked at Gerard and Daniella as they walked away from Amelia and Caius, she knew that there was something that needed to be done and she had a feeling that she wasn’t going to her apartment.

“We’re going to the coven house,” Gerard said looking at Daniella, he was going to need help and Cristina was his best option right now.
