CHAPTER NINE

THE NOTE

IT WAS BARELY AN an inch when a knock sounded on the door, surprising Cyan that caused her to push him away.

"For the love of---" iritang sabi ni Lawrence na nagtungo para buksan ang pinto.

Cyan had thankfully rushed towards her study table before the door opened, revealing Gian holding a stack of books.

"Hello, Kuya. Dinala ko lang itong mga libro na hinihiram sakin ni Cyan."

"Can't you wait to give it tomorrow?"

"Why? Gising pa naman si Cyan di ba?" at sumilip ito sa pinto.

Cyan glanced back at her, trying to hide her embarrassment. Gian grinned, with her very much enhanced sight and hearing, she could see the blush on Cyan's face and hear the pounding of her heart, which happens a lot, everytime Cyan is with her brother.

Lumapit si Cyan sa babae at inabot ang mga libro. She let out a grunt, surprised by the weight of the books. Samantalang isang kamay lang ang hawak ni Gian sa mga libro.

Lawrence took the book from her arms to save her the effort of carrying the heavy stacks.

"Go now," pagtataboy nito sa kapatid, halatang iritado pa rin.

Gian winked at Cyan, dahilan para lalo siyang mamula sa hiya. Nagpatiuna na si Cyan sa loob ng kwarto at dinampot ang salamin mula sa higaan. Magrereview siya, pipilitin niya, kailangan niyang magfocus.

Lawrence quietly closed the door and put the stack of books on her study table. She could feel him watching her, but didn't say anything. Hinayaan na siya nitong magfocus sa pagrereview at nagtungo sa bathroom para mag-shower. Noon lang nakahinga ng maluwag si Cyan at magrelax.

Cyan woke up the next morning by the sound of her alarm clock. Napa-igtad siya ng bangon mula sa higaan, hindi niya namalayan na nakatulugan niya pala ang pagrereview. Malamang na sa binuhat nanaman siya ni Lawrence. And speaking of Lawrence, he's not in the room. Maaga siguro itong bumangon.

Nakaramdam siya ng disappointment at matamlay na tinungo ang bathroom.

It wasn't also Lawrence who drove her to the university but Dennis. Si Gabriel pa rin ang magbabantay sa kaniya kasama ang tatlo pa niyang body guard. Hindi siya nagtanong kung bakit hindi si Lawrence ang maghahatid sa kaniya. Sinarili nalang niya iyon. Baka siguro may biglaan itong inasikaso, lalo na at ito ang lider ng grupo nila. Naaalala rin niya ang biglang pag alis nito kagabi kasama sina Dennis at Gabriel.

"Dennis will pick us up at five again, kaya may isang oras ka ulit para tumambay sa library." sabi ni Gabriel na nakasunod sa kaniya.

Katulad ng mga nagdaang araw, awtomatikong naglingunan ang mga estudyante sa paligid niya.

"I wish they would stop doing that." she said, irritatedly.

"Ang alin?" takang tanong ni Gabriel.

"The students staring at me." she answered.

"Don't mind them. They are just plainly curious on why you have a handsome body guard walking with you."

She grunted.

"That hurts."

"Some of them are one of us, Luna. That is why they are looking. They are curious and eager to finally meet you." it was Ben who spoke, one of her 'said' body guards. May itsura rin ito, hindi nga lang kasing gwapo ni Lawrence at Gabriel, o ni Dennis. Gwapo rin si Dennis, hindi nga lang palangiti. And just like the other two, Ben also have a pair of blue eyes and brown hair.
