To The Rescue

The next morning I woke up in a play house. I looked around me confused.

Why was I here?

I looked up to see the back porch of Mrs. Karen's house.

It was a little weird to see the tent was removed from the ground and stacked up neatly against the house.

I slid down the long slide she had.

That was the most fun I've had since I stepped foot on her land.

I walked around to see Mrs. Karen's car was gone and all the lights in her house were turned off.

I wondered if I should wait till she got back home this evening.

I sat on her front steps for a long, long time probably an hour and no sign of her.

I then stood up and realized I had to do something about this.

I couldn't just wait for them to get home, but I knew I didn't have a choice.

I wouldn't know the way back to the greaser territory.

It would be best if I just stayed put the rest of the time I was here and wait.

Two Hours Later...

I was around back swinging on the swing set when I heard a noise.

It was a strange noise coming from the front of the house.

I decided to get a better look.

I jumped off the swing and squatted by the back window and peeped in.

It looked like four Socs just broke inside the house they were robbing it.

I knew my house number and 911 if I could just get inside to the wall phone.

When they began to search the bedrooms, I found this to be my chance.

I squeezed in through the front door trying to not make a sound.

I quickly picked up the phone and dialed the house number.

Ring....Ring....Ring...

"Hello?"

It was Darry, and it was so nice to hear his voice.

I needed to stay quiet because they might could hear me.

I was breathing heavily in the phone wondering if I should talk.

"Hello, who is this?"

Finally, I was going to say my first word.

"——."

A hand went over my mouth, and I began to scream again and again.

I could hear Darry's voice on the telephone, "Lollipop?! Where are you?"

I then had duct tape going over my mouth, and I was stuffed in a bag.

I was so small and so defenseless I had no idea what to do.

They grabbed ahold of the bag and accidentally dropped me.

I hit my head on the hard floor and blacked out...

Evie's POV:

Driving myself home from Mrs. Karen's sleepover was rough.

I was so tired, so I decided to pull over and call Steve to come and get me.

I could get my car tomorrow.

"Hey, this is Steve."

"Steve, it's Evie can you come pick me up I'm outside the Curtis house, and I'm too tired to drive home."
