Chapter 4

Daniela enters the hospital and as she walks towards Ricky’s room, she spots her mother sitting outside the room staring mindlessly at the hospital staff passing by.

She takes a seat next to her mother, there’s an air of silence, the two just looking ahead, Diane’s eyes are still wet and she looks drained as she hasn’t had a genuine sleep since Ricky’s accident.

After some time Diane decides to speak up, still staring mindlessly ahead and her voice is low yet you can hear the sadness screaming through her words

“I wanted to tell you all this time but…it was hard and I didn’t want you to start hating me.”

“I don’t hate you” Daniela picks at her fingernails whilst her mother slowly turns her head towards her “I’m just in shock and angry because you kept something so huge from me” she lifts her head up and looks at her mother

Diane places her hand on Daniela’s hand “I’m sorry”

“So what compelled you to sleep with Uncle D?”

She smiles with the memory…

Diane’s POV:

Today is daddy’s big day…the day our family is finally complete again. I’m happy that he’s moving on and he has found someone that he can grow old with and someone who makes him happy.

Angela’s wonderful, she treats me as if I’m her own and we all get along like a house on fire. Her son Derrick is okay although he’s more to himself but we are family from this day forth and I gotta admit…I love my new family.

“Daniela!” dads voice echoes in my ears

“Yes daddy?”

He steps into my room whilst I’m just adding the finishing touches to my attire, a layer diamond necklace. I’m wearing a cerise pink satin dress with silver stilettos and I decided to let my hair down into loose curls.

“You looking amazing, baby” he looks at me proudly

“Thank you daddy and…” I take a step closer to him “you don’t look like a man who has a seventeen year old daughter” I hold onto his tie and slowly set his tie as I continue “you look like a man whose fresh out of high school and about to marry the love of his life” I hold onto his hands

Daddy stares at me with wet eyes “Are you happy Danny? Do you think we will be a happy family?”

“Yes daddy, I think we will be the happiest, I love Angie and Derrick and I get along well, I’d say we already a happy family” I smile at him reassuringly

“I got to leave now, wouldn’t want to keep the bride waiting on her big day. Is Clarence fetching you?” he stands half way out the doorway

“Yes daddy…now leave before you miss your own wedding” I lay my hands on his back, pushing him lightly
