Taking the Long way Home (5 Seconds of Summer)

Chapter 2

Ashleigh Point of View

 After school finished for the day I said bye to the girl and made my way to my locker to get out my homework books and locked it up. I knew I was heading to Lauren’s after school so I walked a bit away from school and got on the bus that went to their suburb and it happened to stop outside her school.

As I was sitting on the bus I pulled my phone out and checked the message from Luke

From Lucas

To Ash

Morning sis I hope u have a good day at school

Just remember that I love you.

Luke xx

Yeah right he now has a funny way of showing it that he cares for me. After a while the bus made it to Richmond High School, I got off and waited for Lauren to come out of class. About five minutes later she called out my name and I walked up to her and gave her a hug and we started to walk back to her place.

“How are you today?” she asked

“Ok” I said

“You know Luke loves you” she said

“He has a funny way showing it” I said

“You will always be his younger sister” she said

“I am a year younger than him but way shorter than him” I said laughing a bit

“You smiled and laughed been I while” she said laughing as well

We continued to walk back to Lauren’s house and I noticed Ashton’s car was in the drive way I looked at Lauren and she just shrugged her shoulders. We walked into the living room and there was Ashton, Calum, Michael and Luke sitting in front of the T.V playing video games. I haven’t spoken to Luke in a few days face to face.

“Hey guys” Lauren said

They looked away from the T.V and saw both of us standing in the doorway, within seconds I was being lifted into somebody arms, I looked and saw it was Luke I laid my head on his shoulders and thought about how we did this before school every day.

“I miss you sis” he said into my ear

“I miss you to bro” I replied back

“You know just because mum is always with my doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you she is just so caught up with chasing me around from place to place, and just because I am always half way across the world I will always love you, I know how you are when you are staying at Ben’s or Jacks they keep us updated I want to call and talk but I know that I will make the situation worse” he said give me a last hug before letting me go

I gave her a small smile and followed Lauren to her room

Luke Point of View

Thank god I got that out, her friends always keep me updated on her when I am not around and it normally the same she goes and disappears at lunch to our hide out at the back of the school. She is my sister and I am not being a very good older brother, I am never there for her anymore back to before I started posting videos on YouTube we were so close walked to school together and walked home helped each other with work I even taught her how to play guitar and now she picked up on singing, drums and bass.

But ever since 5SOS become more popular I have been pushing her away not talking to her as much as I would like too, when I am home she just hides out in her room or she stays somewhere else. I remember this time it go so bad I didn’t even know where she was. I try to text message her but I never get a reply back I know she seen it be she never texts back,

I wish I could have the old Ashleigh back the one who would run down the street to get to the ice-cream van first of the one who faked an injury so she could win in soccer, the one who always has a smile on her face and nothing can but her down. But she has been replaced with a totally new Ashleigh the one who stays in her room all day, never has a smile on her face or when she does it looks forced and who has touched the soccer ball it is still sitting in the same position as we last left it years ago.

“Hey Luke you still here” someone asked snapping their fingers in my face

“What” I asked

“You are alive” Cal said

“You blanked out for like 10 minutes you ok?” Ashton asked

“Yeah just think” I said

“About how you wish you spend more time with Ashleigh?” Mikey asked

“Yeah I wish would spend more time with her not just keep ignoring her all the time” I said

“You know we are going on tour soon” Ashton said with a look

“Yeah she doesn’t know that” I said

“You have to tell her sooner or later or you will be back at square one again and she is going to be more depressed that she was before” Mikey said pausing the game

“She could join us in the UK, Australia and New Zealand” Ashton suggested

“What about the US?” I asked

“Well since the UK is at the start of the year she can join us for the part of the tour and then fly back to Australia go back to school for a few months, then when we hit Australia it will be holidays so she will only be missing a couple months of school, she can just do school on the tour bus like you do.” Cal said

“Well and it might clash with exams” I said

“No it won’t because exams are at the end of term 2 and she will be on tour with us for term 1 and she can learn all she wants in the UK we can hire a tutor and when we are in the US she will be doing exams and when we get back from the US to Australia she would have finished it wit would be holidays so perfect timing” Ashton said

“Well we have to ask her if she want to even go on tour with us and then we have to run it my managements and mum she might think it is a great idea or a total disaster” I said

“Liz and Ash could swap over for the US part she goes to the UK with you and then she flies home and Liz flies out to the US and joins us for that tour and then we all meet up in Oz” Mikey said

“I guess we will have to wait and see” I said

How was that, Luke and Ash made up or have they only made things worse got to wait and find out what happens next.
