Chapter 13: What now?
I called everybody in for a meeting before we arrived back to the Citadel. Everybody sat down. Once everybody was in the room, we all looked to the empty seat where Bailey used to sit. I felt pain in my heart when I looked over there so I just lit up another cigarette. I looked around the room.
“We’re heading back to the Citadel.”
“What for?” Zerg asked
I shrugged my shoulders, “The High Three would like to talk to me in person and the ship needs a few repairs to it. I think taking a small break might be for the best.” I looked over to Bailey’s seat and then to the rest of the crew, “Especially with the events that has been going on.”
Everybody was silent before Kris looked over to me, “I can’t help to feel this is my fault.”
“It’s not your fault. I made the choice. I thought long and hard about it.”
He shook his head and we all went silent again. I took a drag and then looked over to Aada, “Aada, I got the rest of the vision but nothing seems to be piecing together.”
She nodded her head, “I can link our minds together. This might work in showing you the vision.”
I nodded my head, “Alright, let’s do it.”
I got up and handed my cigarette to Kris and walked over to Aada. We looked each other in the eyes and then she instructed me to close them. She touched my arms and then I started to see the vision. Those creatures were coming towards me and then they faded out to houses being attacked by them. It zoomed out to show a planet and then several others. All these planets we’ve been to. The last planet was Faranormen. It zoomed in and then showed the planet being wrecked and destroyed. People screamed and then it zoomed out and faded.
Once the vision was over I took a step back. I thought about the vision for a second before I looked around the room, “Faranormen.” I whispered, “We need to go to Faranormen!”
“Why? What did you see?” asked Farcus
“It was a warning of these creatures invasion. The last planet was Faranormen. We need to go there.”
“Didn’t they already invade Faranormen?” Aada asked
I looked to her and walked back over to my seat and sat down. I took my cigarette from Kris and then nodded my head as I took a drag. They all looked to me and then Aada put her hand to her head.
“I’m going to go lay down for a bit.”
I nodded my head and then looked around the room, “Dismissed.”
Everybody got up and left but Kris stayed in his seat. I took another drag and then he looked over to me, “I still feel like Knight’s death is my fault. If we didn’t have this going on . . .”
I looked over to him, “Kris, I thought long and hard about it. I wish I could have saved her. I really wish I could have.”
He nodded his head, “That’s the first person I lost in battle.”
I reached out and held his hand, “It’s hard, I know.”
He looked over to me, “I’m glad you saved me, but . . .”
I shook my head, “Don’t second guess this, Kris. I already did. I don’t need you to either.”
He nodded his head and then got up and walked away. I moved my hand to my lap and just sat there. I took a drag from my cigarette and then just sat there. I went back to my quarters and then just sat there. I lit another cigarette. I kept smoking until we got to the Citadel. I stopped and then suited up. I brought Tan’kel and Zerg along with me. We headed to the center of the Citadel and went to talk with the High Three. Ambassador Gluk was already there and talking with the High Three.
