A Bird of a Different Color

I am nothing but a bird

A free bird

But nevertheless a bird

A bird who wishes to

Spread her glorious wings

S T R E T C H I N G them to the sky

Wondering if the moon will

Set her feathers

Still she's C A G E D in pain

Thinking only of bars of distraught

Hopelessly wandering

Is it better to have an ounce of love

In your crippled palms or

Freedom sucking the life from your soul

She doubts the world

Could see her beauty

Or care to watch her flutter

So she silently hides
Leaving colors under the

Plain life she had

Nude colors that draw no life

She prays for

By the world of uncertainty

Not caring if anyone is watching

or yearns to see the pretty face

Under a dark veil of insecurities

But who is she to try and change it
