Rana paced around the house, her head full of worry from the call she had just received.

Tanha Inayat had first greeted with the good news about her new job at Adeel's office, but then told her about the woman in his office.

Now Rana couldn't help but wonder if her husband had been hiding sommoments,

The clock on the wall ticked away, and Rana paced hours passed by, but her husband was no show.

She couldn't help but wonder if he was with the woman, who she could not for the life of her guess who it was.
Tanha had been able to give her a vague description, but it wasn't enough.

Rana knew that there were many women in Adeel's past, she even had the displeasure of meeting some of them.

Her phone then rang.

She took quick steps towards it, hoping it was Adeel.
As she took one look at the screen and saw that it wasn't. It was Jiaz Afzal.

Although disappointed, Rana still picked up. Jiaz did always manage to cheer her up in stressful situations.

"Assalamualaikum Rana." Jiaz greeted her in a teasing tone.

"Walaikumsalam." She timidly responded.
"How are you?"

"Fine, fine. What are you up to?" He asked.

"Nothing, just waiting for Adeel." She hesitantly paused for a minute, contemplating whether to share her problems. "Hey, do you mind if I tell you something?"

"No, of course not, go ahead."

After a few deep breaths, Rana openly began to explain her situation, telling Jiaz all about her worries and the woman Tanha saw.
Once she finished, she felt like an open book that gave away all it's words.
She waited for her boss to say something at the other end of the end line, but only silence greeted her.

"Hello?" Rana called.

Oh, you're so stupid Gul-e-Rana.
She couldn't help but doubt that Jiaz had only been joking and that he had no interest in her problems, and she must have annoyed him.

But before she could voice herself, her boss spoke.

"I think you should give him the benefit of the doubt." Jiaz said slowly.
"You don't know who this woman is, he was at work after all, it could have been anyone really. Just ask him."

She considered his words whilst getting over the shock of him not being bored or annoyed by her.

"I guess you're right." She replied quietly. "Thanks, Jiaz."

"You're welcome. And I'm glad you're finally calling me by my first name Rana. You know-"

But Jiaz Afzal's next words were cut off by a screeching noise that made Rana jump and let her phone fall.
After a few moments, she picked it up again, and shakily spoke.

"Hello? Jiaz?"

Nothing.

Then muffles, popping and the crunching of something.

Then nothing.

"Jiaz? Are you Ok?"

Only eerie silence greeted her.
