Chapter Nine

Lexi’s POV

“Hello.” I greeted the unknown caller as I laid on my bed, all of my clothes from camping were already washed and put away. We had gotten home earlier that day and all the boys had gone straight to bed.

“Hey, Lexi right? It’s Tristan, you know the guy from the campsite? You had a hangover?” my chuckle brought him out of his rant and silence took over the line. I didin't remember giving him my number so it was a little surprising that he was calling me.

“Are you laughing at me?” he questioned.

“No.” I stated. “I’m laughing at my pet turtle.”

“Hey no need for the sarcasm, I get it I’m funny.” I could hear the smirk when he spoke and pictured him shrugging as he complimented himself.

            “Funny looking maybe.” I teased.

“Ha ha, are you done laughing at me now. I actually called for a reason.” His voice was rid of any teasing, and I knew that now he was serious. I wondered what was wrong.

“And here I thought you just wanted to hear my voice.”

“And why would I want to hear you, when I could just see you in person?”

“I thought you were still camping?” I asked sitting up on my bed and backing up so my back was against the wooden headboard.

“One of my friends got sick and we decided to come back. I figured since it was still spring break you would want to hang out. But I saw you leaving earlier this morning and you didn’t seem like you wanted company.” He said. I could hear something in the background, someone laughing and then a slam of a door.

“You saw that?” I had hoped that nobody had seen that.

“Yeah want to talk about it?”

A comfortable silence took over us and I ignored his question. “How about Carol’s Shack, you know the restaurant on the beach, want to meet up there?” I asked.

“Sure. See you there in ten?”

            “Ten it is. Bye.”

            “Bye.”

I hung up the phone, dropping it on my bed and walking into my closet. What to wear? What to wear? Pulling clothes off the hanger I glanced at my alarm clock, only five minutes left. I threw on a pair of white shorts with a blue ruffle tank top and a pair of sandals. Grabbing my phone and shoving some money in my back pocket I walked out of my room.

“Where are you going so secretly?” A voice rang out behind me causing me to jump and turn around clutching my chest over my heart.

“God damn it Kyle, what the hell?” I panted trying to regain my breath.

“And I repeat where are you going?” he asked.

“Out.” I said turnung around and walking down the stairs, towards the front door before yelling a “Don’t wait up!” over my shoulder and laughing as he shouts after me to ‘be careful’ and ‘use protection’.
