how hard

it must be

to love

a sick person.

because while

suffering internally

without cure

is hard,

watching helplessly

from the outside

must be harder.

i know

there is no cure

and

have accepted it.

but loving someone

makes our minds

relentlessly hopeful

that our loved one

will be okay.

to the extent

that it hurts

so

so

much

when you realize

things

won't

change.
