Depression is a horrible illness. It comes and goes when it pleases. Anything can set it off. The scent of certain cologne or driving down a street can trigger a depressive episode or even a depressive spiral.

Stiles had been at your house that day and found a letter. It wasn't anything special, really. It was a letter to your best friend. The letter was just an agreement between you and him. But in the margins, you'd both drawn doodles and it looked quite childish. It reminded you of good times but that also brought back one of the worst.

-"I gotta go." Theo mumbles as he starts pulling his clothes from drawers in his bedroom.

"What do you mean you have to go?" You ask as you lean against his door frame.

"I mean, I have to go." Theo's voice grows harsh as he moves around the room.

"What? Why?" You shake your head as you watch your best friend pack his things.

"Because. It's none of your fucking business." Theo avoids eye contact as he puts his clothes messily into a bag.

"Well, when are you coming back?" You ask with a lump growing in your throat. Theo stops for a few seconds before continuing his packing, not answering your question. "Theo!" You scream as you walk to him. "Answer me!" Theo's jaw clenches with you yelling at him but he continues to ignore you. "What did I do?" Your voice comes down as your voice cracks and your face becomes etched in a mixture of confusion and heartbreak. Theo shakes his head as he zips his bag. "Theo!"

"God! You're just-" Theo growls with clenched teeth, finally snapping his attention to you. Theo peers at you, his heart beating against his ribs and pulling him in opposite directions. He hated seeing you upset but he hated what he could do to you more. "so fucking annoying." His words are forced and your brows knit together.

"I-I-I, I can not be. I didn't know." You stutter as your best friend breaks your heart.

"Yeah, well," Theo's brows raise as if it were nothing, slugging the bag over his shoulder. "now you do." Theo pushes past you and out of the room.

"Are you coming back? I can not be annoying." Your voice cracks with your words while your mind plays over all of the events that's lead to this moment.

You play through the times he's brought girls home and you would bang on the door when you got tired of the girls making noise or Theo groaning. You would tease Theo about his random quirks like him wetting his toothbrush before and after adding toothpaste. There was a time you complained about a guy you had been dating and Theo told you to break up with him. When you didn't and that guy left you heartbroken, you cried to Theo about it. You knew your spurts of depression were annoying. Theo never said it, but you knew because you found them annoying. Shutting people off, sleeping all the time or not at all, reckless, not being able to care about anything. The list goes on and on because maybe it wasn't you forgetting to shut the bathroom light off the night prior, something that bothered Theo. It had to be everything. One thing doesn't cause people to just up and leave.
