Chapter 23: Movie Night Starring Aiden
Carter's P.O.V:
"Well? I'm waiting," I said angrily.
Currently I was standing in front of Aiden and his friend Darren, who were suspiciously dressed as lumberjacks. Why? I had no idea.
"We just wanted to make sure you were okay, Carter. We promise we meant no harm," Darren replied.
"Liar," I bit back.
"What's going on?" Connor asked, wrapping an arm around me.
"Aiden was following us around," I responded.
Connor raised an eyebrow at me.
"Why?" He questioned.
"I don't have to tell you," Aiden spat.
"Aiden! Stop being disrespectful. Connor and I have a right to know why you're following us. It's weird," I snapped.
Aiden blushed.
"I-I'm sorry. I just wanted to be friends again," He said quietly.
My mouth hung agape as he stood there awkwardly.
"Connor, Darren. Would you mind leaving Aiden and I to have a chat?" I asked.
Darren nodded, while Connor looked at us skeptically.
"Are you sure?" Connor asked.
I nodded.
"I'll be okay. It'll only be a minute or two," I replied.
Connor sighed but obliged anyway, walking off into the forest. Darren followed him closely.
"So, Aiden. Mind telling me what the heck you think you're doing?" I asked.
"Look, Cart. I really am sorry. But I knew you were still pissed at me from a few days ago. I couldn't stand the fact you were mad at me. I need you more than you think," He replied.
I felt my stomach go all bubbly from his words, but quickly shook it off. He was Aiden for Pete's sake! A player, and most of all, a heartbreaker.
"And you thought following me would help our friendship?!" I yelled.
He looked at the ground.
"I wanted to know if you were dating Connor," He replied quietly.
I sighed loudly, walking over to Aiden.
"You know, I can't stay mad at you for long. Even if you're a jerk most of the time," I said.
Aiden looked up.
"I'm sorry," He said again.
"Don't say sorry again Aiden. It's quite annoying," I said, smiling.
"So...does this mean I'm forgiven?" Aiden asked.
"That depends. Are you through with being a player?" I questioned.
Aiden grimaced.
"No more dating?"
I placed my index finger on my chin.
"What do you think?" I asked.
His face strained as if he was making the most important decision of his life.
