I just stared at him wide eyed, and looked back at my dress.

After getting out of my little daze, I looked around the hall to see couples standing together, sharing same colours. That's when I got the idea.

Couples had to wear the same colour. No wonder why Lucas was so determined to find me a dark blue dress. Referring ourselves as a couple was even awkward...

I was quickly embraced into a tight hug by Karen, who was beautifully dressed up in an elegant peach dress, and hair tied into a neat bun.

"Oh Hi Karen..." I greeted her sheepishly, remembering how I made up a story infront of her. She nodded at me knowingly, "I know the whole story now! Don't worry, little Lukey told me all." I heard a groan from behind me as I laughed on 'Little Lukey'.

"Hey little lukey!" I looked at him, snickering. He just stared at Karen who bit her tongue and raised her hands in defence, "Sorry Lukey, it slipped." He just rolled his eyes at her as she left us alone. I noticed Karen walking towards a man with a peach shirt.

I then turned around to see Lucas staring at me, with his lips parted.

"What?" I snapped at him.

"Nothing..." He said as he shook his head to get rid of some thought.

I looked at him and smiled. He looked really cute when deep in thought. But I'll never tell him that.

I decided to go for a drink. As I reached the bartender and just opened my mouth to say something, Lucas came and dragged me away, saying, "You're not going to drink."

"Why?"

"They're all alcoholic, you hobo." I pouted childishly, as I had a severe craving for something to drink. He smirked at my reaction and stated,"But I have arranged something, sweetheart." He took me towards a table, which like all the other ones was covered with silky fine table cloth. I raised an eyebrow at him questioning, as he bent down to lift the cloth up.

Nice view...

As the cloth was lifted up, I saw a crate of soda.

Lucas just smirked at me cheesily.I smiled at him fully, and quickly took one of the cans out. As I sipped my drink, I saw Lucas from the corner of my eye smiling at me. He excused himself to meet some people, as I looked around while taking a seat. I spotted Nathan sitting just 3 tables far from me. It's been a while since I had a chat with him. He, noticing me, got up from his seat and came towards me. I looked at his shirt, black. I looked around to see some pretty girl in black but found no one.

"You won't find someone in black, Candy." He stated taking a seat beside me.

"It's for people who don't have a date." He told me. My eyes were wide open as I heard the word 'date'.

"Date?"

"He didn't tell you?"

I shook my head, surprised. He told me that every couple had to bring a date, matching their dress colours. And the ones with no date had to embarass themselves by wearing black. I asked him about his absence, which he reasoned by saying that he had to go to meet his friend.

******************************

I was sitting, playing on my phone when I decided to let my gaze wander again for eye candy.

I know everyone does that.

My gaze settled on Lucas, as always. He caught my gaze and blew me a kiss, to which I replied with a roll of my eyes. Finally, he came towards me as I noticed the centre of the hall emptying.

"Hello sweetheart. Missed me?"

"You wish."

He pulled me out of my sitting position.

"You're dancing with me sweetheart."

"Huh?"

"You're dancing with me, sweetheart!" He said louder.

"I heard that, jerk. But why would I dance with you out of all people?"

"Because, out of all people, only I'm wearing dark blue." He smirked at me. I narrowed my eyes and said, "You did it on purpose."

"Thanks again, captain obvious. Now come on." He tugged me again.

"What, no asking?"

He smirked at me and called out to everyone, "May I have your attention please?" After he attained everyone's attention, he fell down to his knees dramatically, and asked me with a smile, "Ms. Candy Lockwood, Can I have this dance?"

"I don't know, can you?" I asked him chuckling. But I found this action too sweet.

He rolled his eyes and asked again, "Ms.Candy Lockwood, May I please have this dance with you?" He asked as his eyes bore into mine. I couldn't help but nod at this sweet gesture. He smirked as everyone in the hall cheered.

Okay, I have danced before and I'm not going to say 'I can't dance'. But I can't help but think, I'm really dancing with Lucas? The person I despised 2 weeks ago? I'm quite nervous.

Yes.

Candy Lockwood is nervous thinking of dancing with Lucas Banks.

As we reached the centre of the hall like other couples, a tone played. I instantly recognized it as the instrumental version of a Thousand Years, my favourite.

As the music started, Lucas pulled me into his chest which made me gasp, but I quickly covered it with a sheepish smile as Lucas smirked. He reached for my hands and placed them on his shoulders, all the while looking into my eyes. As his hand made contact with my back, I let out a breath at the warm touch. He smiled at me, his eyes twinkling. I couldn't help but smile at him as we started swaying to the music. It felt like I entered a new world, not being cliche.

I felt safe in the boundary of his arms. I still can't believe it.

We're actually dancing? Me and Lucas?

It felt like a magic was cast over us, making us move to the sweet music. Lucas had a genuine smile on his face as we continued swaying, not breaking eye contact. It all started feeling natural, real and not an act. Lucas really wanted to dance with me.

And I didn't try to reject, fortunately.

He turned me around as the music reached its best part, and pulled me closer to him. He was now practically hugging me while taking steps, forwards and backwards.

As we started leaning closer, I could feel his minty breath fanning me. He started leaning closer to me as the other couples were busy in their own little worlds.

I was afraid my mouth will smell and taste like soda. But, is he going to kiss me?

As his lips touched mine, I felt numb. A shiver ran down my spine, alarming me. Though I started feeling nervous, I wanted him to do it.

Just do it, Nike.

He licked my lower lip, requesting for permission. Which I instantly approved by parting my lips. And then it started, he started kissing me passionately, exploring my mouth. I didn't stay still, but did the same, our lips moving in sync.. The feeling was mutual, but mysterious.

The kiss lasted for a long while, and we pulled away, breathless. Lucas' lips were swollen due to the impact, and pink. I was the first one to break the eye contact, and advanced in a random direction.

I simply kept on walking, until I reached a balcony which showed the beautiful view of the starry night.

Candy Lockwood and Lucas Banks kissed.

And it all felt right...

As I stared at the stars, someone came from behind me and turned me to face them.

Lucas.

"Wanna know why I chose dark blue and flats for that dress?" he asked smirking cheesily.

I couldn't help but crack a smile. So that's why he made me buy flats...
