A very basic plot structure involves:
1. An initial incident
2. A rising action or plot complication (E.g. the initial problem intensifies)
3. climax or turning point and issue resolution.
The part where something goes wrong is crucial to the story's grounding and plot.
Without it, nothing interesting would happen and there wouldn't be a story worth telling.
Other aspects of story structure could be played with somewhat: hooks could lead the protagonist and reader to a wrong resolution and the structure continues to the 'correct' ending.
Can you identify the basic story structure in your works?
