To be a Princess

Chapter 25

No Regrets

"BANG!"

A loud sound echoed through the Sukinozuka family estate.

"BANG! BANG!"

The pounding on the wooden dummies continued on in a ruthless barrage of attacks.

"BANG!"

At last the wooden structure cracked in half and fell to the ground in a heap. Yuki exhaled slowly before her green eyes shot up and she ran towards the next dummy waiting to be smashed into splinters. She pulled back her fist and just before she could thrust it forward to hit the damned thing, a voice called out to her. "Wow, you must really dislike your practice dummies."

She stopped in mid-punch and turned to face the owner of the voice. It was Liang looking around the dojo at the graveyard of mannequins scattered all over the wooden floor. "It's called training." Yuki replied as she walked off to the side to grab a towel and wipe off the sweat pouring off her face. "On the weekend?" he asked ludicrously. Yuki sighed. "Yes. The National Martial Arts competition is next week. I'm even taking the week off school to train. Come to think of it, why don't you train?" Yuki asked with a tilt of her head as she took a sip of water for her bottle.

"Ehhhh... Too tiring~." He sung as he scratched the back of his head. "Hmmm... You'll never get better that way..." she said as she began to fold the fluffy white towel and placed it on the ledge again. Liang merely shrugged his shoulders. She headed towards a door. "What's in there?" Liang asked in curiosity as he peeked over her shoulder to see what was inside.

The door opened with a thud and Yuki spun towards him brandishing a weapon of some sort. Liang instinctively brought an arm up to shield himself from the sudden attack. When he opened his eyes, he felt a wooden sword held against his neck. "Gotcha." Yuki said as she gave him a small smirk and lowered the sword. "... How?" Liang muttered as he looked at his arm with a perplexed expression. 'My arm should've blocked that.. How did she get it through?' he thought.

"It's a secret." she stated as she smiled at him. before heading off to the next mannequin. "Ah, I just had an idea!" Yuki said as she turned to face the Chinese boy once again. "What for? Training?" he guessed. "Yep!" she replied with a smile. "So... what is it?" he asked.

"Your family's karate focuses on defence right?" she asked as she twirled the sword in her hand effortlessly. "Yeah, how did you know?" Liang confirmed as he tilted his head in question. "I just noticed that you're never really attacking anyone. You're just using your opponents strength against them and adding the finishing blow or you sneak into their defence and go from there." Yuki hypothesised as she took a few practice swings. Liang nodded in understanding.

"Back to the point. My brilliant idea is that you can be my practice dummy for this session!" Yuki declared as she pointed the wooden sword straight at Liang. "EH??? But I don't want to end up like that!" Liang shouted in defiance as he pointed at a pile of broken wooden dolls. 'I don't want to die early!'

Yuki giggled at his antics. "Well, unlike them you can actually move and block properly so... just think of it as training!" She said as she entered a stance, preparing to attack. "W-Wait Yuki! Let's talk this over for a bit- AH!" Liang tried to reason before leaping into the air with surprise and Yuki took another swing at him before he quickly flipped away from her and the extremely dangerous wooden sword. "You could've seriously hurt me!" Liang exclaimed as he held out his sleeve which had a small cut on it. "Are you sure that sword is wooden?"
