The pounding of the bass rattles the Jeep, the doors shaking at the music that blares from the warehouse. Stiles and I are parked in the field outside of the abandoned building, which turned out to be a lot bigger than we anticipated. There's a cluster of smaller buildings and a parking lot surrounding it with the open field on the other side. Power lines run through the mini-complex, sparking at the usage of lights in the place.

The warehouse itself looks sketchy. Metal slabs hang off the sides and the roof, creating a creepy apocalyptic look. Who knows how long this place has been abandoned before a crazy senior decided to throw a party in the face of a police-enforced curfew. Teenagers file in the doorway, which is a giant hole in the front of the building with a metal slab that lowers and rises. Someone hung an assortment of strings and beads from the top of the doorway, creating a door of sorts. A boy I faintly recognize from school pushes through the strings, allowing me to see the flashing lights and dancing silhouettes of the people inside.

A light tapping sound breaks my thought and I turn my head to see Stiles tapping his finger on the steering wheel. A look of deep concentration is on his face, his brows furrowed and lips pursed. I find myself smiling. As if he can feel my eyes on him, he turns. "What?"

I shake my head. "Just thinking."

A light smile creeps onto his face. "About?"

"Hm. Nothing." I turn away from him, my smile never faltering.

"That's not fair. You were looking at me. Were you thinking about me?"

I cock my head, once more turning to look at him. "Maybe."

He smirks. "Anything in particular?"

I roll my eyes, still unable to wipe the smile off my face. "Nothing of importance." I want to tell him what I was thinking. That I was thinking about us, about this moment right here, and how I want to stay here forever. Just the two of us and this beautiful peace between us. But I can't find the words right now, not in the face of what's to come.

He pouts. "Oh come on. You could at least tell me if it's good or bad. I want—"

"Shh!" I cut him off, jumping up in my seat. Immediately he whips his head to look out the windshield, matching my gaze.

"What?"

"I recognize them." I say slowly, leaning forwards. Two people are approaching the warehouse, a man and a woman. They look younger, but too old for high-school. I've seen them before, tearing up the inside of the Mystic Grill. "They were in the Grill that day."

Stiles grabs his pair of binoculars from the console and peers out the window. "They definitely look evil."

A dark look passes over my face as I remember the screams of innocent people from that day. "They are evil."

We watch for a few more minutes, but I don't recognize any of the other people who enter as being one of the tomb vampires. We'll just have to rely on Stefan and his memory of them. We won't get all of them, but we can get some. And that will make a difference. Finally, I see two familiar people enter the building.

Stefan and Elena, walking hand in hand. Elena keeps glancing around, her eyes finally landing on the Jeep. Even from this distance I can see her demeanor shift, and I know she's ready for whatever is coming our way. They're the last two to enter; Scott and the others are already inside. About ten minutes after they enter, my phone buzzes. I pull it out to see a text from Stefan.

I read it and stuff my phone back in my pocket, turning to Stiles. "Let's do this."

We climb out of the Jeep, the cool night air stinging my skin. I pull down the sleeves of my jacket and wish I brought a heaver coat. The grass is slightly damp from the mountain draft, and my Converse squelch with every step. Stiles opens the back of his Jeep and pulls out a small but heavy burlap sack that I know is full of mountain ash. We exchange a look and then together head for the warehouse.
