PROMPT: Think of home.

It had been a long and hard day for him. He could have gone without the second Orc attack, but that was all part of the quest. So, now he was laying on the hard ground and trying to relax. However, he found that that was impossible to do without you. Many of nights, after the long day had passed, he'd often think the same thing over and over again. He wished that you were there. Though, he figured that you were safer back at home and that was for the best because he truly wanted you safe.

He could see you now, though, curled up next to the fire and thinking about him. It brought a smile to his face to think about the way that your lips would twitch down with a frown every time you began to slip into a deep thought. That smile would widen even more when he remembered the way your hair might be falling from your shoulder right in that moment, and you'd have to push it behind you ear again. Or maybe, just in this moment, you were scrunching your nose at a joke one of your friends was telling. All the things that made you you. They were all he needed to think about to get him through the long days.

He was going to propose. He didn't know when the thought occurred to him, but he knew that it was indeed what he wanted to do. It must have crossed his mind one night and just stuck because it was such a good idea, and yes, he would do it. He could already imagine your reaction to it. He would come home from the long quest and walk through the front door of you two's home before sweeping you off of your feet. He'd bring you into a bone crushing hug to make you giggle and whisper all the things in your ear that he had wanted to tell you on the quest.

It was as if he was actually living the very idea. He could almost feel you in his arms as he swung you around and then gently put you back down. Then, he lowered himself to kneel before you and look deep into your eyes. The look you gave him in his mind was priceless because you knew what was coming and your innocent wonder made his heart swell with love. He'd say it then; the four words that would bind you two together until the end of forever. Of course, you'd say yes.

He couldn't help but smile at the thought, and then let out a chuckle as he thought about what the rest of the group would say if they knew he was being so sentimental in his thoughts. So, with a smile on his lips and his mind filled with images of your smiling face, he drifted into a peaceful sleep. So blissfully unaware, was he, to the things that were about to happen. The people that were about to be lost. How he would never get to say those four word. How you'd never say yes.
