XOXO is usually an abbreviation written at the end of a letter or message to say ‘Kisses & Hugs’.
It is EXO’s first album and is presumed to be an ode to thank fans who have waited.
The album title has been well researched and reinterpreted to suit EXO:
1. Phonetic - Breaking down the code behind the ‘XOXO (Kiss&Hug)’ album from a mathematician’s perspective:
The phonetic spelling of the letter ‘X’ for ‘EX’ and the letter ‘O’ for ‘O’, that is XO = EXO
If, XO = EXO and EXO=EXO-K+EXO-M
Then, XO = EXO-K+EXO-M = EXO = One = ‘We Are One!’
2. Visual - The X letter represents a ‘Kiss’ as in two people puckering up to kiss while the O letter represents a ‘Hug’ as in two people embracing one another. The O letter also symbolises the O as in forming ONE person, that is EXO-K and EXO-M forming one group, EXO.
ALBUM TRACKLIST CONCEPT: Wolf Moon Love Tale
This release has a connection with EXO’s previous concept, which revolved a lot around the moon - shown in most of EXO’s predebut MV teasers. The album is made up of 12 tracks, again representing the 12 boys. The title track is ‘Wolf and Beauty (Wolf)’ and the rest of the album focuses around mythical tale themes and the quest of love for a Beauty/Lady.
