The nighttime is both terrifying and exciting.
Terrifying, because there are drunk and violent strangers all jeering at you, and you don't know whether they're harmless or harmful. Terrifying because the ghosts and demons jump out in front of you and curse you whilst you scurry along, sometimes getting smothered in potion that makes you emotionally weaker and seemingly uglier.
Exciting, because the moon becomes your own disco ball that you share with the world. The still atmosphere embraces anything you do, whether it's right or wrong. People are asleep, so you can share your secrets with the stars, and stars are very good at keeping secrets safe. The stars will share their secrets too, but they'll all speak at once so all you can get is a twinkle of their enthusiasm and existence. And that's all you need to feel close to them and you start to feel safe and sound and sleepy...
