Reed entered the room, his hand sliding down slowly from the brass knob. His crystal blue eyes met Sam's, making the girl cower against the bed. Her arms above her head, the rope chaffed her wrists.

"Sam, Sam, Sammi," Reed chanted her name, walking with his arms behind his back. He came to a stop by the bed post, resting one had on the cherry wood. Sam rolled her eyes, looking away from him.

"Why do you ignore me, sister?" Reed tried to give her a pleasant smile, but it turned into more of a forced scowl.

Sam said nothing.

"I see how it is," Reed changed his tone of voice. He walked slowly over to her side, grabbing her chin in his hand, he yanked her head to make her look at him.

"You will tell me what's going on between you and Justin," He sounded even more threatening now.

Justin's name struck a familiar thought into Sam's head.

"Where is he? What did you do to him?" Sam yanked her chin away from his hand, speaking franctically.

"Don't worry, don't worry. The insolent boy is fine," Reed sat on the edge of the bed, sitting by her hip.

"Why is it, I don't believe you?" Sam met his eyes, venom in every syllable of her voice.

"Still don't trust me, huh?" Reed got up then, swipping the remote off of the night stand. He clicked a few buttons, and a picture of Justin appeared on the TV. Sam could tell it was another hotel room by the matching bed and tacky floral patterns. Justin was trapped just like her, tied to the bed by ropes.

"Screw you, Reed," Sam hissed. Reed's eyes opened in shock.

"I show you he is safe, and you're hostile in return?" Reed clicked his tongue in disapproval.

"You have no need for him. This is all me, all me," Sam emphasized her words, trying to make her point clear. Reed gave a dark chuckle.

"Tell me, are you two...involved?" Reed started to pace the room, hands clasped behind his back. Sam rolled her eye, a heavy sight escaping her lips. She wasn't going to tell him anything, not if it meant putting Justin in danger.

This was all her fault anyway. If she had never said they should run away, he would be safe at home. If she had never started this, he would be safe, alone, at home.

He would have been safe.

He would have been unharmed.

"Hmm, no answer I see," Reed stroked his chin, as if her had an imaginary beard. He continued to pace, going from corner to corner of the room. His eyes seemed distant, as if he were completely absorbed in something else.

"Well then, how about this," He stopped in the middle of the room, locking eyes with Sam. "Are you pregnant?"

Sam blinked twice, letting the silence fill the room.

She burst into laughter. She curled her legs up, completely in the stupidity of her brother.

How could someone so successful in business, be so stupid?

She managed to contain the fit of laughter long enough to speak.

"Yes, I am. I am due in 2 months and haven't gained any weight. Also, the baby is going to be microscopic when born," Sam finished her sentence and began to go into hysterics again. She found herself crying before long, her stomach cramping up.

"Enough!" Reed boomed. She managed to catch a glimpse of his annoyed face. That only made her laugh more.

"You gonna make me?" Sam laughed harder as he store across the room to her. He grabbed her chin, making it harder for her to laugh. She kept it up somehow.

"You insolent girl! Stop that!" Reed hissed at her, tightening his grop on her jaw. She gasped, her laughter dying down.

This was not the brother she knew. Her Reed would never, ever, call her insolent, or hurt her like he was now. He would have never laid a finger on her, never touched a hair on her head.

She felt the tears slowly slide down her cheeks, shocked at her reaction. She said she wouldn't cry, not if he forced her, and now she was. She was crying because of him again.

"Samantha?" Reed let his hand fall from her face, watching her carefully.

"You are not my brother," Sam met eyes with him with watery eyes.

"Samantha, you take that back," Reed grabbed her arms this time, shoving her closer to the bed. She cringed, turning her face away from his.

"No," Sam managed to choke out from behind her fear.

"Why do you want to protect him? Why do you care? Why do you defy me? What did I ever do to you?" Reed was getting furious, the recognized anger flaring in his voice.

Sam had had enough. She was fed up with his crap. She had had enough of his being an idiot, refusing to see just how trapped she was.

"You did everything anyone could have ever hurt me with. You trapped me, controlled me. You picked my friends, you picked my school. You did everything that a child fears. You make my worst nightmares come true," Sam found herself yelling, shouting all her feelings in his face.

Reed slid back slowly, studying her face. He himself seemed to have been shot. Directly in the face, she could see the shock of truth setting in.

"You don't understand. I did all those things because I had to. I did it because I-"

"You didn't care! Everyday I would to you and see a hard-at-work-barely-there, brother. You always had your mind on business, never on me and Cam. Even when dad and mom died, you concentrated on getting the offices under your control."

Sam sighed, catching her breath.

"If you lay a hand on Justin, for as long as I live, I will never forgive you."
