“Goodnight…” Sam said gripping the door knob.
“Night…” His niece responded. With a small nod he reached for the door knob and pulled it close, but just before the door was about to meet with the frame, a scent caught his attention. A familiar scent at that.
Sam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as he thought of why that certain scent would be lingering around his niece’s room.
Deciding to let it pass as nothing, he turned around and walked down the stairs and to the living room where he spotted his mate just at the bottom of the stairs.
“Hey, honey… I’ve got to go now, see you soon…” He said reaching down and kissing her on her lips.
"Alright, see you soon…” Emily said afterwards.
With that Sam nodded and walked out of the door making sure to lock it before running out into the woods and phasing.
‘Anything new?’ He asked his pack telepathically, as he ran deeper through the woods with his newly changed body. His pack immediately responded back. Seth, the newcomer, being the first.
‘Actually now that you’ve mentioned it, I noticed something….strange.’ At this Sam’s ears perked up in curiosity.
‘Strange…like what exactly?’ He asked furrowing his furry brow.
‘I can’t exactly put out the smell, but it don’t smell like no human…’
‘What do you mean? It doesn’t smell like a human? That what is it? Is it another pack? Bloodsucker?’
‘I…I don’t know… It’s scent is…different. I can’t tell…’
‘It couldn’t be… Something’s wrong…’ Sam stated in his mind.
‘Seth, tell me you are right now, I’m coming. Tell me exactly where you are…’ Ordered the Alpha.
As ordered Seth told him exactly where he had been, and just like that in a flash, Sam straightened up on his hind legs in sprinted through the forest. The closer he got to Seth location the more he could smell the scent. It was familiar.
A short flash of memory past in his head as he remembered same scent. It was that vampire from months ago. It had came back. A growl formed at the back of his throat as came closer. As soon as he spotted Seth he slowed a bit just did one last sprint landing next to him.
‘Sam… I can’t identify the scent…’ Seth informed his alpha with a drop of his head. Sam turned to him with his wolf eyes narrowed eyes.
