The next day was a Saturday and I decided to go for a walk to clear my head. I pulled on my runners and walked out the front door, enjoying the cold air on my face. I started walking down the road, my pace getting faster and more determined, and eventually I ended up running.

I ended up near a pond that I found running through a bush track near my house. I sat down and smiled, enjoying the view. All of a sudden a little white dog ran up me and started licking me on the face. I laughed and checked it’s name tag. “Hello Milo!” I said patting the dog.

“MILO! MILO WHERE ARE YOU??” a girl's voice yelled out.

“I think he’s over here!” I called back. As soon as she spotted me so jogged over.  The girl looked about my age and I have no other word to describe her other than “cool.” She had long, dark hair with pink and blue streaks in it. She had an eyebrow piercing and had dark makeup on with lipstick. She was beautiful.

“Oh my god, thank you so much. My mum would have killed me if I had lost him! You’re a lifesaver I owe you one! I’m Victoria, by the way. And you are?” I was struck by her confidence and instantly wished I was more like her in the sense that she had her own style and confidence, which is exactly what I lacked.

“Oh, that’s okay,” I said smiling at her. “I’m Lola.” She sat down next to me and I was yet again surprised to see how forward she was.

“Wow, that’s a pretty name! What school do you go to Lola?”  She asked, sitting down next to me with her arms on her knees.

After a few minutes of talking we found out that we are in the same year at the same school and that she lives down the road from me. I guessed that she wasn’t part of the popular group because she didn’t have blonde hair and a silly giggle, but rather was mysterious and witty. Victoria was impressed that I was a friend of Sam’s and she said she was also going to his party next weekend.

“So Lola, if you don’t mind me asking, is something up or are you always this devo?” Victoria asked, grinning at me. I smiled back at her, this girl was really something and I could tell that she was something that my mum would call a “wild child”. I explained to Victoria about how I caught Jacob cheating on me with Tracy and how Sam thinks I should get angry but I can’t help but being upset.

“Oh my god that fucking SKANK!” Victoria yelled. “I hate her too, Lola, she is such a bitch. There is nothing more that I would like to see than her being taken down for the bitch she is.” I could tell that Victoria had a personal vendetta against her and I wondered what Tracy would have done to Victoria.

Victoria suddenly stood up and pulled me up with her. “Come on, you’re not doing anything tonight are you? Let’s have a sleepover at mine.” I was shocked that a girl that I had only just met was inviting me to stay over at her house, but I liked Victoria. I liked how straight forward she was and how she told everyone how it is.

We walked for about ten minutes when all of a sudden we came outside one of the most amazing houses I had ever seen in my life.  It was a beautiful mansion that was so big I was convinced it could be a hotel as well. Victoria started walking up the pavement towards the house. “Victoria, what are you doing!?” I whispered, trying to get her to stop.

“This is my house, dumbass.” Victoria answered, grinning at me. When we arrived inside, I was speechless. Her house was so beautiful and grand I couldn’t help but gawk. As we went into the kitchen I watched Victoria with curiosity, it was weird how you would never expect Victoria to be extremely rich and spoilt. I had the feeling that she didn’t like her lifestyle though.

When we walked into Victoria’s room I sat on her bed. All of a sudden a woman walked into the room wearing an extremely fancy dress and heels that were probably six inches high. I couldn’t make up my mind as to whether she was a supermodel or a real life Barbie doll. Or both.

“Well hi there, gorgeous! I’m Louise, Victoria’s mum. I’m so glad to see that she has a friend over, she never invites anyone over! Now, who wants homemade cookies?” I was so surprised that Louise was Victoria’s mum. They seemed to be the complete opposite to one another and they didn’t look anything alike.

“She’s not my mum,” Victoria said after Louise left the room. “She’s a gold digging whore who married my dad for his money.” I could tell that Victoria immensely disliked her step-mother so I changed the subject.

“So, why do you hate Tracy so much? What did she do to you?” I asked.

“What’s to like about her?” She answered. I could tell that there was more to that story than what she was telling me but I decided to let it be, for now.

Two hours later we were sitting on Victoria’s bed eating pizza and talking. “Right okay, let’s talk about Tracy.” Victoria suddenly said. “What did you do to piss her off?” I explained to Victoria the story of how I walked into Tracy and she yelled at me.

“Did Tracy seriously yell at you for only that? That has to be a joke, of course she knew it wasn’t intentional.” Victoria said, clearly pissed off.

“Yeah,” I replied, “I don’t know why she would have done it.” Victoria leant forward and looked up as if she was thinking about what I had said. She then turned to me, looking a little nervous.

“Look, Lola. I don’t mean to be a bitch, I seriously don’t- I like you. And I don’t normally like people so you’re different. But I have to be the one to tell you that you’re bound to get picked on when you dress like that! Its as though you are trying to bring the wrong kind of attention to yourself!”

I blushed furiously, and looked at myself in the mirror. I had on a white button-up blouse which was long sleeved and a navy blue skirt that went to my knees and long socks. All these years I thought that I would blend in or be unnoticed because of what I wore, but it turns out it was the complete opposite.

I looked at Victoria. She had her head cocked to one side and a smile I could only describe as evil. "What...." I said slowly, raising my eyebrow.

"I have the greatest idea, Lola. It's fate that we met today. I'm going to change your life completely for the better, you  just wait, it's going to be fucking fantastic." Victoria grinned.

"What on earth are you talking about?" I said, laughing at her obsurdness.

“Let’s make you hot." Victoria said.

"Oh, um, no thanks I'm fine like this." I replied, feeling really uncomfortable.

"No seriously think about it! We’ll show Jacob what he’s missing, and then we will get our revenge on Tracy.” Victoria said, taking me to her make up table. It seems as though she had already made up her mind and wasn't going to take no for answer. Thinking about what she had just said, a grin grew on my face as I couldn't help but be excited to change from boring, push over Lola to hot, confident Lola.

She stood behind me as I sat on the chair infront of the mirror. “Mmm, I see lot’s of potential here…" She said, lifting up my hair. " We will have you transformed by next Sunday… for the party."
